Commercial Manager responsible for providing an array of commercial and business development duties, upstream marketing and promotion of construction methodology and products, and contract administration working for major clients on large scale and large value specialist construction projects in the Asia Pacific region.

Primary accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the Commercial Management procedures within a world renowned specialist construction firm and perform business development tasks, reporting to the Business Unit Manager, and will lead the company internal processes from the inception (lead/detected opportunity) to award (successful appointment) of a specialist construction project.

Skills & Experience

• The candidate must have a minimum of 20 years experience in the engineering and construction industry, specifically in commercial and business development positions.
• The candidate must have vast experience in business development, general management and commercial management on major projects in the Asia Pacific region, and preferably including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines and further afield to Australia and New Zealand.
• Experience and knowledge in areas such as bridge construction and stay cable technology (from a design and methodology perspective would also be beneficial to the role).
• An understanding of the roles of fellow construction operations is preferable such as the duties on Civils and Infrastructures project sites, for the likes of, for example, Project Managers and Cost Control staff.
• Knowledge of the Asia Pacific Civils/Infrastructure and Energy markets in terms of new build opportunities in the region would be beneficial.
• It is preferable that the candidate has developed relevant contacts in the Asia Pacific region with specific focus on maintaining these business relationships (and also be aware and keen to cultivate additional business contacts) in the construction industry of local authorities, end clients, main contractors, sub-contractors and engineering consultants.
