About the job

As a Social Worker at Kids In Play, you are expected to provide social work services and therapeutic interventions to children, their care-givers and incarcerated parents. You are also expected to work in tandem with the Kids In Play staff team in delivering group work and family bonding programmes to families registered on the programme.

Casework Management:

• Register and orientate new families through the intake process, and provide information and referral services.

1. Case Work Management

• Effective use of therapeutic approaches and other intervention strategies to stabilize and regulate emotions of clients.

1. Community Resources and networking

• Establish close working partnership both internally (Gracehaven Children's Home, Gracehaven IPAC and Residential program Team and Volunteers) and other stakeholders so as to maximise community resources and support systems.

1. Programme Development and Evaluation

• Plan and implement programmes that will complement the goals of the Service and that are engaging and therapeutic in intervening with the children and young persons.
• Evaluate the outcome of the project/Program against the objectives on a regular basis.

• Advocate and represent the rights, needs and welfare of Clients through official platforms, to address service gaps, concerns or issues that will promote and enhance the service delivery for beneficiaries.

1. Professional Development

1. Administration

• Complete all necessary documentation for all clients including admission forms, discharge summaries and other ongoing records.

• Degree or Graduate Diploma in Social Work from a recognized university

RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to caring for children and youths, Children and Youth Group - Gracehaven also runs an Interim Placement and Assessment Centre (IPAC) in the residential home. This temporary care environment will allow children under child protection to be in a safe place while assessment into their needs are undertaken to facilitate their placement in the most appropriate care environment.As a Caseworker/ Social Worker in IPAC, you are expected to maintain a caseload as assigned by senior staff members and provide individual casework weekly counselling, groupwork intervention plans including behavioural management of clients in care.
