The Postdoctoral Associate is in the T4 project for the five-year M3S program in SMART. The SMART team seeks to advance the frontier of AI research, apply it to society and cities, and demonstrate the concrete social impacts of the AI algorithms with broad public acceptance in Singapore.

Specifically, the SMART-T4 project seeks to integrate the state-of-the-art AI and the classical dynamic behavioral models to maximize the growth of human capital. It creates novel theories and develops an AI-assisted system to recommend long-term career decisions and short-term spatiotemporal activity decision in cities. It facilitates individual decisions around education and skill training to support Singaporeans’ lifelong learning, including both cognitive and physical skills. It helps employers design remote work policies to promote work engagement, and guides government agencies to support workers through workforce training.

Project Overview

The Antimicrobial Resistance Interdisciplinary Research Group (AMR IRG) is a unique translational research and entrepreneurship program aimed at solving the growing threat of resistance to antimicrobial drugs. In synch with the National Strategic Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance, the AMR IRG was launched in January 2018 as a research programme funded by the National Research Foundation, under its Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) programme.

AMR IRG is made up of biologists, engineers, and clinicians from MIT and Singapore, at career stages ranging from student to postdoctoral researcher to research scientist, all of whom work closely with a core team of research specialists. Optimization of antimicrobial use was is identified as a top priority in combating the rise of antimicrobial resistance. Yet, when one seeks medical care for an infection, clinical tools are lacking to rapidly determine whether the infection is bacterial or viral. Multi-plex nucleic acid tests to detect common pathogenic bacteria and viruses from bodily fluids are commercially available and are trusted by clinicians. However, the cost of these tests and the turnaround times required (longer than an office visit) limit how fequently they are used. A team in AMR IRG is working to develop a multi-plex protein panel and test that can address this gap while retaining performance metrics that are required for clinical adoption. The Senior Research Officer works to the High Commission’s political and economic section. The position will play a key role in monitoring and analysing Singapore’s domestic political and/or economic developments, including issues in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Here at Moleac, we are a company aiming to address the needs of patient’s recovery from a loss of brain functions after a brain injury as well as cognitive deficits. In our small and dynamic Medical Affairs Department, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical studies we undertake and will have abundant opportunities to learn the entire clinical study process. The Department runs Moleac’s international drug development programs with two focus areas: extension of indications for our main marketed products and conduct of clinical studies aiming at the regulatory approval of our new products in major markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Support the investigators in implementing clinical trials protocols:

o Liaise with the study site personal to implement the study per global and local requirements.

o Ensure compliance with all ethical, regulatory and contractual requirements.

o Training of study site personal (protocol, use of IP, SOPs, etc.).

· Ensuring data quality and integrity of clinical study data:

o Conducts site monitoring visits and follow-up to identify deviations & issues and to ensure that all clinical aspects of studies are being carried out in accordance with the protocol, regulations, guidelines and policies.

o Reviews on-site files and records, case report forms, and source documents for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

o Identifies deficiencies and discrepancies, and provides remedial training and/or implement corrective and preventive actions as required.

o Liaise with data management, reviews case report form queries, clarifies and/or obtains changes to data as appropriate.

· Create, update, track, and maintain study-specific trial management files. Ensure study documents are audit ready.

· Update and maintain clinical department management tools and systems, as required.

REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Science or a related field preferred.

· Good understanding of GCPs (Good Clinical Practices).

The Role

In this position, you will be working on backend components to support existing technology-based platforms that collect, analyse and act on data related to in-flight employee fatigue. As a member of our team, you will work closely with software engineers, data analysts, project managers and external partners to deploy back-facing software systems for use in existing platforms towards managing employee fatigue. It collaborates with the maritime industry and research community to develop innovative digital solutions and training systems to enhance maritime safety, through state-of-the-art research facilities at CEMS, such as South-east Asia's first navigation research simulator.

The appointee will be part of the CEMS AI team in developing machine learning models, analytics capabilities in big data infrastructure, and conducting data science studies for SP. The resulted work will be used to enhance simulator training and assessment, innovate in training pedagogy and develop digital technologies for the maritime industry.
