The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

This position is for a full-time Senior Research Fellow position. The Laboratory of Virus Evolution (LoVE) studies rapidly evolving respiratory RNA viruses including influenza, parainfluenza and coronaviruses. We are looking for candidates to join the fusion energy effort in the newly formed Plasma Physics & Energy Group (PPE), Institute of High Performance Computing, A*STAR. PPE focuses primarily on microwave plasma diagnostics and RF heating and current drive (H&CD), with an emphasis on solving the challenges faced by future fusion energy systems. The new hire is expected to contribute to, and potentially lead, research in magnetic confinement fusion. The Research Fellow (RF) will work closely with the Programme Chair and Core team members to engage in thorough research, generate impactful papers for publication in top-tier academic journals; and successfully obtain competitive funding for the research programme.

Purpose of the post

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow for “Engineered extracellular vesicles for anti-cancer therapy (EVANTICA)” in the Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Teaching and research activities in our department range from clinical pharmacology, systems pharmacology, to basic molecular and cellular pharmacology. Purpose of the post

The RF’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as molecular cell experiments, in vivo experiments, data collection, data analysis, manuscript writing and presentations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The RF will perform extracellular vesicles characterization, assays in cell culture. The RA will be able to:

1. Oversee the general management of the project;
2. Mentor 3-4 people including research assistants, graduate and undergraduate students
3. Design and perform the experiments;
4. Analyze the data and write publication report;
5. Present the data and discuss with other team members;
6. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.
7. Apply for additional grants.
8. To design and perform experiments on extracellular vesicles and cancer therapy.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

• Have a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Cell Biology or related disciplines; with fluent English
• At least 4 years of research experience in related fields including nanomedicine, cancer biology, extracellular vesicles, immunology
• A good publication record with recent first-author research papers in good journals
• be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail; and
• have a strong experience in wet-lab experiments especially with human cell culture and in vivo experiments in mouse models

The Conservatory is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Musical Brain Computer Interface technology.

The Research Fellow (RF) will design studies and conduct research testing the efficacy of a newly-developed music-based Brain Computer Interface (BCI) for emotion regulation in listeners. She/he will work in a multi-disciplinary team to 1) conduct R&D of our automatic music generation systems for affective music generation, and 2) help test the efficacy of a music generation system paired with a BCI for emotion regulation in healthy as well as neurological and/or mental health patients. The RF will design and conduct experimental research and user studies, help coordinate research activities, and perform data analyses. The RF will need to be capable of working both independently and in a team, of developing innovative solutions, and of publishing research findings in high-impact conferences and journals. This position is part of an exciting large-scale (multi-research team) project that aims to create a holistic BCI solution for the restoration and enhancement of brain functions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop user studies and experiment interfaces to test the efficacy of an affective music generation system paired with a BCI.
• Explore solutions for music and BCI-driven therapy for mental health (depression, anxiety).
• Conduct pilot trials of an EEG-based musical BCI
• Conduct data analysis, perform statistics, and interpret the users’ behavioral and neural signals.
• Prepare manuscripts and publish in high-impact journals and conferences.
• Assist in supervising research staff and students.
• Participate in IRB applications and report writing.
• If candidate’s background allows: Co-develop novel algorithms for our BCI system for emotion regulation, modify code for automatic music generation algorithms for greater efficacy.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Cognitive Science, Computer Science & Engineering, Music Information Retrieval (MIR), Psychology, or related disciplines
• Significant experience with experimental design, quantitative analysis, and statistics
• Strong publication track record
• Programming experience
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Some knowledge of music / music theory is strongly desired
• Computational neuroscience and neuroimaging (e.g., EEG) experience a strong plus
• Experience with algorithmic music or automatic music generation is advantageous

• 1 year contract, with possible extension up to an additional 6 months
