Role Responsibilities
Job Summary
The role is to drive the strategic direction and develop an impactful agenda for vendor management across Supply Chain Management (SCM) globally in order to further enhance the competitive edge of the Bank.
Drive the overall SCM Vendor Management agenda to ensure a consistent and quality approach in Vendor Management across the Group. This includes defining the value proposition and obtaining Business buy-in for the scope and longer-term benefits of Vendor Management for Global Businesses/Functions. Embed and optimises a partnership framework with Vendors to increase service offering, improve capabilities & competitiveness, and improve performance.
Design, influence and execute the Supply Chain Sustainability operations for the Group. This includes embedding a consolidated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approach and methodology for new suppliers and across the existing supply base. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders such as NGOs and technology vendors and leveraging the Vendor Management teams to embed the Bank’s Sustainability agenda across its supply chain.

Strategy
Vendor Management
· Drive the overall SCM Vendor Management agenda to ensure a consistent and quality approach in Vendor Management across the Group. This includes defining and providing clarity on the scope and value proposition of Vendor Management within SCM and Global Business/Functions
· Lead and influence senior engagements with Business/ Functions for the buy-in of SCM Vendor Management Services including the appointment of Strategic Owners for key relationships
· Define and agree the approach and methodology for Vendor segmentation with Global Business/Functions Heads to drive effective the supplier performance and contract management
· Establish performance scorecards across a service/vendor type or at client/stakeholder level
· Define and align measurable SLAs and KPIs across a service/vendor type
· Establish and monitor gain share mechanisms and other forms of outcome-based and commercial arrangements
· Assist in developing and maintain the Vendor Management Standards
· Establish world-class vendor management process, implement appropriate measures of success and benchmarks, use market leading techniques e.g. A3 to optimise operations, and own the roadmap and implementation of supporting technology enablement
Sustainability Operations
· Lead the sustainability operations team in SCM to deliver high quality reporting with the necessary quality required to avoid claims of greenwashing and pass external assurance
· Assist the SCM MT to prioritise the full ESG agenda supported by practical implementation roadmap and that the strategy is outcome driven. Devise practical implementation options with clear outcomes, cost benefits analysis and reporting metrics
· Proactively engage with GCFO Sustainability and Net Zero teams to ensure alignment of reporting, processes, and adoption of technology solutions with a particular focus on leveraging client facing solutions and data sets
· Collaborate with Head Supply Chain Sustainability to devise systematic and measurable metrics so that the SCM MT and other key stakeholders have full visibility on SCM ESG progress and achievements
· Coordinate ESG process development efforts within SCM to ensure embedment of initiatives across relevant business processes as well as operations (including business travel, vendor strategies, contract management etc)
Stakeholder Management
· Support in communicating the value proposition of Supply Chain ESG/Sustainability in the Bank and promote the strategic positioning of the relevant initiatives within the Sustainability community of the Group
Cross Functional Engagement
· Maintains thought leading relationships with senior business stakeholders and senior key vendor service owners to ensure that service improvement opportunities are communicated effectively and consistently
· Work in a highly effective Supply Chain Management (SCM) team to deliver Vendor Management services that exceed stakeholder and client expectations
Processes
· Establish a world-class vendor management process, implement appropriate measures of success and benchmarks, use market leading techniques to optimise operations, and own the roadmap and implementation of the technology enablement
· Establish performance scorecards across a service/vendor type or at client/stakeholder level
· Devise systematic and measurable metrics so that SCM MT and the other key stakeholders have full visibility on SCM ESG progress and achievements
· Deliver a high level of data quality that can be relied on for external representations
People & Talent
People Management
· Leads the Vendor Management and Sustainability Operations team in the SCM CoE
· Set up teams to embed Vendor Management which include strategic development and performance measures into clusters/countries/ Hub

Risk Management
· Ensure that Reputational and Sustainability Risk is consistently managed as it relates to the Vendor Management process
· Define and align measurable and SLAs and KPIs across a service/vendor type
· Assist in developing and maintaining the Vendor Management Standards
· Lead the embedding on consolidated ESG scoring into Supplier evaluations
Governance
· Define and agree the approach and methodology for Vendor segmentation with Global Business/Functions Heads to drive effective the supplier performance and contract management
· Proactively engage with GCFO Sustainability and Net Zero teams to ensure alignment of ESG ambitions, strategy, and roadmap (including reporting, processes, and adoption of technology solutions)
· Ensure effective governance and controls for supplier risk management across the Bank, manage the Vendor and contract management framework globally
Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Key stakeholders
· Key stakeholder interactions are Senior Global Business / Function Heads: MT-1
· SCM regional teams; Regional Heads, Regional Category Managers, Country sourcing managers, Risk and Governance Head and Risk and Governance Managers
· Working with Senior Business Leaders to manage the most significant third party relationships in the Bank
· Cross functional teams during Global Category Heads for to ensure alignment on the commercial category strategies. Other Key Stakeholders include but not limited to Risk Groups, Legal, Compliance, Tax and Finance

Third Party Risk Management and Reporting
· As Vendor Management is a new capability, provide continual clarity across group, regions, and countries with respect to the roles and responsibilities of Contract Owners, Vendor Management teams and TPRM teams
· Maintain strong working relationship with Senior control group peers
· Ensure effective governance and controls for supplier risk management across the Bank, manage the Vendor and contract management framework globally
Contractual Nous
· Strong understanding of contract management process, and ability to coach others on best practices
· Influences the contractual negotiation with the strategic vendor to support big sourcing deals
· Ensure the right teams are set up to effectively manage contracts
Project Management
· Prioritise, own and project manage vendor management initiatives leveraging the wider support of the SCM community and stakeholder groups
· Develop, manage and own the project management infrastructure to ensure the Group adequately addresses any regulatory changes in relation to vendor management. This includes setting up the mechanisms such that prioritised initiatives are delivered as per agreed objectives and outcomes

Our Ideal Candidate
· Academic/ Professional Qualifications
o Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Economics or Business Administration
· Experience
o 3+ years working experience in Vendor Management with an additional 10 years working in Supply Chain Management roles
o Previous experience of working within the Financial Services Industry is an advantage
o Relevant experience in stakeholder management (i.e. practices, leadership, effectiveness)
· Specialised knowledge or skills required
o Able to use ERP systems such as SAP Ariba
o Good understanding of analytics and reporting tools
o Good working knowledge of contracts & familiar with legal agreements
o Advanced commercial knowledge in Vendor Management
o Advanced business management skills including stakeholder management, commercial judgment and process improvement
· Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills with ability to analyse quantitative and qualitative data and information to make informed decisions
· Excellent negotiating and persuasive skills, both in one-on-one and group situations
