Argus is seeking an editor to lead the Singapore freight team, which covers tanker and dry bulk markets. Your team will cover the markets through daily price assessments, writing interesting, analytical market commentaries, news coverage and in-depth analysis to appear online and in the daily Argus Tanker Freight, Argus Dry Freight, and Argus Gas Freight reports. Through your leadership, your team will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding the contact base, driving methodology and coverage development and attending industry events.

The global freight market is in a state of constant change in its position at the centre of international trade, geopolitics and environmental regulation. This represents an exciting opportunity to join the team and cover high-profile news on changes that can reshape the global trade and impact on the wider crude, oil products, dry bulk and gas commodity industries.

You will work in tandem with the freight teams in Europe and the Americas and collaborate frequently with other editorial teams and business development, sales, and marketing colleagues.

• Manage the Asian Freight editorial team to deliver high quality content and pricing.
• Oversee the day-to-day running of our Asia Freight desk.
• Oversee consistent, high-quality hiring and training of the Asia Freight editorial team.
• Conduct mid-year and end-of-year employee performance reviews.
• Develop contact with market participants and key market sources to build relationships and share market intelligence.
• Oversee quality and relevance of methodology for related markets.
• Collaborate with Manager and Editors globally, as well as business development, sales and commercial to identify customer content needs and help to create value and grow the product and client base.
• Identify product opportunities (new markets to assess, building out analysis).
• Provide subject-matter expertise internally and externally.

What we’re looking for in you

• · Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, history or relevant field.
• · Proven track record of managing a team to perform at a high level.
• · Proven ability to develop, source and write industry-relevant news to deadline.
• · Ability to collaborate and work within a close-knit team is essential.
• · Excellent communication skills with ability to network and build contacts with industry executives. Strong presentation skills also preferred.
• · Knowledge of the commodity and/or freight sectors useful, but not essential.
• · Prior experience of working in the financial or energy journalism sector is useful but not essential.
• · Experience in the shipping industry or in a price reporting role is preferred, but not necessary.

We are looking for a driven, passionate, and resourceful Editorto join our editorial team in Singapore to cover the biofuels and energy transition markets including sustainable aviation fuel, green hydrogen and carbon markets.

You will lead a team of market reporters and work closely with other editorial members in the regions to provide price assessments, news coverage, maintaining and expanding the contact base, and attending and speaking at conferences. The editor will head the development of market coverage alongside the existing editorial team.

• · Maintain quality of team’s market price assessments, and adhere to rigorous compliance standards; includes regular or backup market coverage, as needed.
• · Engage with the industry to ensure a close understanding of market developments to ensure both methodology and the broader report remain relevant.
• · Help direct, write and edit market commentaries, news, analysis and market outlooks.
• · Ensure end-of-day publication of content to subscribers.
• · Mentor editorial staff, and work with the leadership team to develop staff careers.
• · Develop and maintain rapport with key contacts and liaise regularly with industry stakeholders (buyers, sellers, traders, brokers).

What we’re looking for in you

• · An articulate graduate with a strong degree.
• · 2+ years’ experience of managing market reporting teams within a Price Reporting Agency (PRA).
• · Demonstrated leadership skills, including coordinating and mentoring team members around the world.
• · Extensive experience in delivering breaking news, insightful market reports, and in-depth analytical articles.
• · Ability to use data to generate stories and analysis using Excel is preferred.
• · Background in biofuels markets preferred but not essential.
• · Expertise in editorial processes including implementing and managing Quality Control and Editorial Standards.
• · Understanding of price reporting methodology and compliance issues.
• · A strong understanding of market supply and demand dynamics in commodities.
• · Proven public speaking abilities. This position will be an internal and external ambassador of what we do and must be an accomplished and confident speaker.
