Established in 2007, the SMU School of Social Sciences (SOSS) provides high quality undergraduate and graduate education expanding SMU’s pedagogical strategy to the study of society, government, and individuals embedded within an increasingly complex world. With faculty expertise and research spanning the disciplines of psychology, political science, sociology, and philosophy, SOSS’s research covers key thematic areas such as international development, policy and politics, Southeast Asian studies, social movements, and sustainability. Sustainabilityforms a core research priority for SMU under its Vision 2025 research strategy. Position:

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) invites applications for an open rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) tenure track position in Sustainability, with a specific focus on environmental policy and governance, sustainable development, or environmental sociology to begin in July of 2025. The School is particularly interested in environmental social scientists with an established research and teaching repertoire or high potential for scholarly work on topics related to sustainability, including collaborative governance, the water-energy-food nexus, natural resource management, climate institutions and partnerships, and sustainability governance and analytics. Those with a research focus involving Asia are especially encouraged to apply. Responsibility:

• Provide courteous services to guests and responds efficiently and tactfully to guests' complaints, requests and enquiries
• Liaise closely with Concierge, Reception and Front Office cashier on guests' arrivals and departures
• Establish contacts with house guests/ long staying guests and renders assistance when necessary
• Make courtesy calls to guests
• Requisite and keep stock of promotional materials for daily operations
• Ensure efficient and courteous services in baggage, transport handling and general enquiries

Requirements:

• O-Level or equivalent & willing to perform night shifts

• Handle all procurement-related activities, including raising purchase orders, communicating with suppliers, and sourcing materials and equipment.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to monitor and replenish raw materials and packaging supplies needed for daily operations.
• Address and resolve issues with vendors regarding material quality, specifications, and quantities.
• Assist in preparing and verifying import documents to ensure timely customs clearance of goods.
• Maintain accurate records and organize a proper filing system within the department.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.
