Job Description:

Class Teacher Duties

1. To provide a balanced curriculum at a pace suitable to the children’s age and development, based on a Waldorf pedagogy/child development, with a commitment to exploring and developing innovative educational practices and initiatives found locally and across the globe.

2. To give regard to the sound teaching of literacy and numeracy in line with the above.

3. To really ‘see’ the children, seek to understand them, and work creatively to nurture the healthy development of their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive capacities, understanding their strengths and weaknesses and structuring work accordingly.

Job Role Description

A Student Care Facilitator creates a safe and supportive learning environment for students, manages their behaviour, and effectively communicates with parents and stakeholders. He/She is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times in the Student Care Centre. He/She facilitates and guides children in their daily routines, activities, and programs. A Learning Area Leader provides strategic leadership and vision for the department to align with the school’s overall mission and values. They lead and mentor the teachers in the department, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth. Learning Area Leaders will teach their subjects or disciplines as required.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the expectations specified in the Subject / Specialist Teacher Job Description, a Learning Area Leader ensures effective pedagogy across the area. They:

• Develop and maintain a collegial and supportive culture in the curriculum area that encourages innovation
• Contribute to the development of whole school strategic planning and lead the vision for the curriculum area
• Develop, curate and communicate the written, taught and assessed curriculum and ensure these comply with awarding bodies practices
• Ensure learners receive timely and meaningful feedback and track progress effectively
• Lead the development of subject area goals and individual goals through the Teacher Professional Enhancement process (TPE)
• Effectively manage delegated budgets and assets and plan to meet curriculum resource needs
• Engage in new staff appointments and recommend appropriate staffing for each course as part of the timetable process
• Support and evaluate quality of teaching in the subject and address professional learning needs
• Use restorative practice to ensure good classroom behaviour
• Establish effective working relationships with colleagues and parents
• Empower children to be reflective and independent learners.
• Participate in all aspects of school life and support holistic education.
• To perform any other duties as assigned by the management, stakeholders and reporting manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• A recognised teaching qualification
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher qualification) in Physical Education, or a related field
• Evidence of continued relevant professional development
• Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needs
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on PYP, MYP, IGCSE or IBDP
• Coaching accreditation (preferred)
• Previous leadership experience in a school setting is highly desirable
