Responsible for the safe, reliable and cost effective maintenance and repair of the fleet and facilities by effectively planning and managing the workshop resources to maximise efficiency and productivity, in the process ensuring that scheduled work is completed on time and within budget, making due allowance for effectively dealing with the unscheduled work that arises during the course of daily operations. • Responsible for ensuring that adequate numbers of Engineering staff hold and maintain a valid vocational licence, planning for sufficient vocational licence holders to be on duty to provide adequate resource for workshop and on-the-road support throughout the traffic day.
• Develop the relationship between the stores and the workshop to promote cooperation. Arrange for the correct component parts to be available when scheduling vehicles for repair. Review stock levels to ensure they match demand without exceeding budgeted levels of stock holding.
• Monitor the performance of external contractors undertaking vehicle maintenance and repair to ensure quality of work and compliance with vehicle maintenance standards.
• Produce on a timely basis, engineering cost statements for use in third party insurance recoveries ensuring that all labour and material costs are accurately captured and documented.
• Consult with Trade Union Representatives with the objective of maintaining good industrial relations whilst exercising appropriate management leadership.

Technician Requirements:
