The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing both the operational and design aspects of the hotels facilities. This role involves utilizing design software like AutoCAD to create and modify technical drawings, support engineering projects and ensure that all designs align with local standards and hotel requirements.

As an Assistant Chief Engineer (Project & Operation) we rely on you to

Project Management

• Assist in Planning & Execution - Collaborate with DOE to plan, implement, and overseeing engineering projects, including renovations, upgrades and new installations
• Prepare project budgets and manage expenditures to ensure that projects are completed within allocated financial resources
• Liaise with contractors and service providers to ensure that project specifications and schedule are met
• Utilize AUTOCAD and other design software to create detailed drawings and schematics for renovations, maintenance projects and new installations
• Assist in conceptualizing and drafting layouts for MEPS and HVAC systems that meet operational requirements and safety standards

Operational Support

• Evaluate equipment and system performance through detailed analysis
• Develop and update preventive maintenance schedules based on design specifications to enhance equipment reliability and lifespan
• Participate in evaluating team performance, providing constructive feedback and conducting regular training sessions to enhance skills
• Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans related to engineering systems, including fire safety and disaster recovery protocols
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, project progress and inventory of parts and supplies

• Experience in Project Management, Engineering Operations or a Similar Role Within the Hospitality Industry
• At least 3 years of relevant experience

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate plays a critical role in leading the engineering team, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Project management – oversee and manage the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects. Communicate project progress and technical information to the senior management to ensure timely and accurate completion, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations and company policies.
• Provides technical leadership, training and direction to the subordinates.
• Maximise maintenance team potential with a balanced focus on operations, guests, employees and owner satisfaction.
• Proper records keeping relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel including repair and maintenance.
• Ensure that stores have adequate stocks of materials, equipment, and tools are kept in a clean and safe environment
• Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety aspects of all plant and mechanical equipment rooms
• Responsible for quality service, short and long-term planning, daily operations as well as preventive maintenance standards.

Prerequisites:

• Bachelor degree in Engineering related trade.
• At least 5 years related experience
• Proficient in MS Office applications and presentation skills
• Able to train, coach, motivate and develop staff
• With certification as FSM will be an added advantage

• Developing and implementing purchasing strategies.
• Managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
• Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
• Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
• Coordinating with Inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
• Managing the maintenance of office/manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
• Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
• Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
• Training new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating all the predictive and preventive maintenance and repair work in the hotel
• Manage the addition and alteration works & M&E system upgrading works in the hotel and other new projects assigned by Director of Engineering / Chief engineer to ensure timeline is met and within budgets.
• Lead, supervise and train/develop technical skills for the team to obtain quality performance and productivity
• Review and update existing policies and establish new policy to ensure relevancy
• Conduct daily briefing/communication with the team, highlight various functions and responsibilities for the different job tasks
• Maintain systematic records to monitor all assigned job-tasks
• Ensure that the work that assigned to various employees adhere to safety guidelines with preventive measures in place
• Ensure all major plant equipment are in good working order
• Any other tasks assigned by Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer
• Assist Chief Engineer in operational cost management, budget, supervising maintenance works performed by external contractors, handyman and technicians
  
  Education & Work Experience
• Minimum Advance Diploma/BEng/BSc in Electrical/Mechanical/Facilities
• Preferably possess the following: Singapore Certified Energy Manager, Green Mark Facilities Manager, Fire Safety manager and/or Water Efficient Manager
• Experience in project management
• At least 3 years of relevant experience
• Displays good leadership skills, good attitude and communication skills
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement projects within the established practice to ensure service delivery and support, meeting availability, continuity, and capacity requirements.
• Translate business requirements into infrastructure design.
• Work with service providers to design, develop, deploy, and configure infrastructure to meet resiliency, availability, and data integrity needs.
• Ensure compliance with Authoritys Technical Architecture, SG-TRM, IM8, and Authority IT Policies.
• Manage infrastructure projects and services supporting application systems environments.
• Request the provision of new virtual machines (VMs) for new systems.
• Manage system architecture, resource planning, infrastructure performance, and the system hosting environment from server hardware to the operating system layer (excluding hypervisor and storage) to support new applications.
• Act as the main infrastructure single-point-of-contact for all new application system initiatives.
• Support/assist in application architecture design, integration, acceptance, and infrastructure performance testing.
