The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (“SDGHI”) is a platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (“AMC”). The Institute aims to address current and emerging health challenges across Asia. Working in collaboration with partners, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

The Planetary Health Initiative is SDGHI’s newest strategic initiative. Planetary health pertains to the integrated state of health of both people and the planet. It recognizes that people’s health is now greatly shaped by human-driven global environmental change, such as climate change, environmental pollution, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, among others. Addressing these interlocking challenges requires concerted actions within and beyond the health sector, spanning diverse disciplines and nations.

During the Initiative’s inaugural phase, the Institute will focus on launching new educational and capacity-building activities, conducting landscape analysis of the current state of play especially at the regional level, exploring research collaborations with other planetary health-oriented groups within Singapore and beyond, and implementing policy influencing and advocacy activities – all geared towards positioning the Institute as an emerging thought leader in planetary health in Asia and beyond.

The Research Fellow will be part of the Initiative’s inaugural team and will significantly contribute to the early development of the Institute’s planetary health portfolio. The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities which include planning, organising, and conducting research studies, including but not limited to the following:

• Independently carry out the design and execution of research projects.
• Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research.
• Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design, ethics review application, and other research management activities.
• Contribute to other activities of the Planetary Health Initiative related to education, capacity building, innovation, policy advocacy, etc.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate/medical students and research assistants.

Job Requirements:

• PhD in relevant fields such as public health, health systems, sustainable development, social sciences, among others, AND/OR post-graduate medical degree.
• Minimum with at least 2 years’ of relevant research experience and training. MD/MBBS graduates with a relevant Master’s degree may also be considered.

Job Description

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), National University of Singapore is looking for researchers and engineers to develop next generation quantum computers based on trapped ions. There are multiple positions available at different levels with a diverse set of expertise. This program is funded under the National Quantum Processor Initiative, a flagship program under the National Quantum Office Singapore. The aim of the program is to develop a full stack quantum processor based on Yb-Ba ions. The unit explores innovative ways to work with data, including testing AI tools for efficient management, analysis, synthesis, and visualisation of research data.

The Research Associate will play a dual role, supporting both SDGHI’s Global Health Systems and the SingHealth Centre for Person-Centred Care (CPCC). The ideal candidate will report to the SDGHI Clinical Core and work closely with the team at CPCC to contribute to projects that improve health equity and access in Singapore and across Asia.

The Lab Executive will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Tissue Culture Facility, Pathogen Room, and Chemical Room. The Laboratory of Applied Human Genetics at the National Cancer Centre Singapore is a multi-disciplinary laboratory with specific focus on peritoneal malignancies and sarcoma. The direction of our laboratory is to solve real world clinical problems via sound scientific translation. Since the conception of our laboratory 7 years ago, we have now set up three scientific pillars of Therapeutics, Companion Diagnostic and CAPTIVATE (Target Generation) pipeline. Currently, we are working towards a first-in-human therapeutic developed in our laboratory. The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor John S. Ascher on environmental modeling of mosquito vectors and stinging wasps and bees and other insects of importance for public and environmental health under the CNRS@CREATE, SPACE project.

We are seeking one or more highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers to join our dynamic team at the Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SynCTI), Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) and the National Centre for Engineering Biology (NCEB).

The Ho lab at Duke-NUS is building a platform to mine the human genome for novel determinants of the inflammatory response.
