The successful candidate will work with Professor Brian Kennedy to conduct interdisciplinary research in healthy longevity science. The candidate will need to apply knowledge in various areas (e.g. basic science, public health, social sciences, data analyses, business) to design, conduct, present and translate research findings into practice. The candidate will also get the opportunities to develop their own research ideas, screen and apply for funding, and collaborate with experts both within and outside the institute. Ultimately, the candidate will work with the team to advance the field of Healthy Longevity research in Singapore and globally.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and conduct interdisciplinary research projects in the field of healthy longevity science, which include collaborations with public-private partners and the general public
• Analyse and present research data in both textual and visual formats for diverse audience
• Collaborate with faculty researchers to identify research with high public interest and translate scientific concepts into accessible content
• Identify new opportunities for collaboration and funding both within the institute and with external partners
• Assist the PI in grant management, including screening for potential funding, preparing research proposals, preparing and finalizing collaborative agreements, monitoring grant progress and milestones, tracking expenditures, and evaluating grant outcomes and impact
• Assist in training junior research staff and students
• Assist in developing and implementing a strategic plan to expand the reach of HLTRP research through diverse communication channels
• Support the organisation of research-related events, e.g. lab meetings, research seminars, symposiums, conferences, etc.

Qualifications

• PhD in biomedical science or related disciplines
• Solid knowledge and research experiences in health science research with a proven track record, e.g. conference presentations and publications
• Experiences in interdisciplinary research is preferred
• Experience in preparing grant proposals and managing grants
• Experience in scientific communication and stakeholder management
• Strong passion in healthy longevity science
• Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

1) Subject Recruitment and follow up

• Be involved in subject recruitment, scheduling and data entry.
• Screen patients based on study eligibility, and communicate the study aims to potential subjects in layman terms.
• Obtain consent taking, administer study questionnaires and follow-up on study participants.
• Work closely with research team, clinicians, clinic staff and other relevant internal departments to ensure research study needs are met.
• Able to work on tight timelines, set sensible targets and achieve research deliverables.
• Conduct research study activities like patient recruitment, data collection and data management.

Requirements

• Hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Science/ Public Health/ Social Science; Preferably with some experience in research
• Able to adapt in a fast-paced environment, with a strong focus to meet research deliverables and targets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Leadership and accountability to tasks is very desirable.
• Independent and mature. Able to work independently, as well as in a team.

• Bilingual preferred (fluent in Mandarin/Malay/Tamil).
• Willing to travel between the Hospitals and external study sites as part of his / her work.
