The Business Development Manager is a key contributor to business activities relating to Sales within the stated geographical region. The role will primarily involve hunting, winning, and acquiring new business and customers for the organisation, lead the engagement and grow assigned customers, lead, and prepare customer quotations and proposals, increase the organization's revenue, volumes and gross profit, execute business development strategies and tactics, and assist management and leadership in the formulation of sales planning, tactics and strategies when required.

Primary Functions

• Hunt, win and acquire new business and customers for the organization (Note that this is a pure hunting role)

• Lead the engagement and grow assigned customers in country

• Maintain positive and close relationships with all assigned customers

• Lead and prepare customer quotations and proposals

• Meet targets and/or increase the organization's revenue, volumes, and gross profit

Job Requirements:

• Degree level or equivalent

• Min. 5 years in a customer facing role in freight forwarding, shipping line, air cargo, logistics, supply chain or similar industries, in the roles of business development, sales, commercial, operations or customer service.

• Pure hunting role. Working knowledge of freight forwarding and/or logistics related operations and selling process is a MUST.

• Attend meetings and corporate events on behalf whenever required & necessary

Qualifications & Experience | About You

The ideal Personal Assistant:

• Min. degree Holder (in business management or related field) with 3 to 5 years of relevant working experience
• Proficient in MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral, written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with business contacts via the phone, email, video and presentations
• Able to assist in MS Teams & Zoom on-line-meeting to manage internal & external meetings

The Job:

• Accurately prepare and manage sales orders, invoices, and related sales documentation to ensure timely and efficient order processing and financial tracking.
• Prepare detailed shipping documents (e.g., bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin) for metal commodity shipments, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
• Handle all banking documentation, including letters of credit (LCs), bills of exchange, and other required financial documents for cross-border transactions.
• Main point of contact between shipping companies, banks, customers, and vendors to confirm accuracy and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to shipping and banking documents.
• Monitor the shipment process to ensure timely delivery, track document submission deadlines, and update internal systems with shipment status and relevant information.

The Talent:

• Ability to communicate in Chinese language to liaise with native Chinese-speaking counterparts based in China.
• Meticulous, team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of SAP ERP system is a plus.
