Scope of Services:

(a) As directed by the teachers-in-charge, prepare and set up apparatus, equipment and other materials for practical lessons. Retrieve,clear away and clean apparatus and equipment, including safe disposal of waste after the lessons.

(b) Provide direct technical support to the teaching and learning of science (and maths) in the three science laboratories; carry out risk assessments together with the teachers whenever appropriate or necessary, to ensure safety.

(c) Keeping the three science labs & its preparation room clean, sanitised, safe, well organised and clutter-free. Ensure the three labs are safe and secure when not in use.

(d) Maintaining the scientific instruments, and ensuring that supplies are accessible for teachers to use for lessons. Report to the HODs of Science and Mathematics for these:

• Assist with the establishment and maintenance of Science (& Maths) Departments’ resources.
• Monitor and manage stock-taking of equipment and resource materials.
• Check deliveries & reorder essential items as necessary.

Job Description

Our GeoSpatialX lab (https://blog.nus.edu.sg/geospatialx/), based in the Geography Department at National University of Singapore, has conducted a series of infectious disease transmission and control studies. We are seeking to recruit an excellent Research Assistant on using statistical/AI models to better understand the geographic spread of mosquito-transmitted viruses (i.e., dengue) under future climate change scenarios in Southeast Asia.

Qualifications

You will have a Master * or equivalent professional qualifications and relevant research experience in an epidemiology/ health geography/ statistical/ mathematical/ quantitative discipline. Strong experiences in statistical modeling, AI, infectious disease modelling, and computer programming skills would be advantageous. The project work will be highly interdisciplinary and as such there is some flexibility to accommodate expertise from a range of cognate disciplinary backgrounds (e.g. geography, demography, statistics, medicine, computer science, ecology, epidemiology etc).
