Assistant Engineer

Contract Position | Immediate start

Responsibilities:

• Support the project team on documentation, drafting and job coordination

• Relevant ITE/Diploma in Electrical or equivalent qualification
• Must have at least 3 years relevant working experience (Preferred with experiences in security system installation)

Job Description:

• Design, configuration and management of systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Ensure day-to-day operations and system maintenance are performed.
• Conduct routine audits of environments to ensure compliance.
• Automating all aspect of provision, monitoring, patching etc where possible.
• Prepare manuals and technical documents.

Job Requirements:

• Min. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Min. 2 years experience in system administration (Linux) and cloud engineering.
• Experience in Cloud AWS VPC, IAM, S3, EC2, Cloudtrail, cloudwatch.
• Knowledge in virtualisation, cloud and container technology (VMware vSphere, AWS, Docker, KVM).

Scope of Position

Supervises the work of the subordinates and extends professional technical guidance/skills when so needed. Trains, motivates and disciplines subordinates and ensures that all work performed is in accordance to specification. Prepares the daily engineering reports and liaises closely with other colleagues on engineering defaults. Inspects all engineering/mechanical fittings on a regular basis and ensures that daily logs of plant/utility meter readings are made. Attend to all complaints/request for engineering repair/maintenance work and studies Work Order sheets before issuing such work order of priority to his subordinates after briefing them on the technicalities. Conduct regular testing of fire protection system in accordance to established schedule.

Duties and Supporting Responsibilities

• Responsible for the assignment of job/task to shift technicians and ensures that such completed work conforms with the standards so established by the Hotel.
• Ensure fire protection system are maintain and checked periodically.
• Ensures energy conservation measures are attend to and contribute new ideas further improvement/savings.
• Conduct daily briefing.
• Check and ensure that daily logs of plants/utility meter readings are recorded accurately at specific intervals and investigate any deviances.
• Liaises with the Chief Engineer on day to day control room operations.
• Communicates with his immediate subordinates for the daily maintenance of equipment in accordance to establish engineering policies.
• Ensures that all his subordinates conform to the Hotel’s various policies and enforces such stipulated policies.
• Attends daily meeting and disseminates appropriate information/instructions to his subordinates.
• At the end of his shift, he prepares shift work order report and hands such report to the Chief Engineer.
• Check and inspect the uniform/attire and grooming of his staff and ensures that they meet the standard of the Hotel.
• Receive all guest/other department engineering complaints and assign duties to technicians according to gravity of breakdown and job priority.
• Conducts random inspection of all work done by technicians in his shift.
• Ensure a proper and thorough handover of duties to the Duty Engineer on the next shift.
• Carry out daily inspections of plant rooms, boiler room, fire command centre, generator room.
• During the night shift, he ensures that all public areas are checked/inspected for burnt-out light bulbs and instructs his immediate subordinates to replace such burnt-out light bulbs.
• During the night shift, he has to ensure that the correct engineering stock is maintained in the cabinet so allocated and completes such requisition form when stocks are drawn.
• Provides guidance and technical training to immediate subordinates in the performance of their duties.
• In the absence of the Chief Engineer, he will be required to assume the duties of the Chief Engineer as so delegated by the Chief Engineer.
• Appraises the performance of his subordinates and makes such recommendations to his immediate superior.
• Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time.
• Exercise control over technical drawings in the control room.
• To conduct PAT (Portable Appliances Test) for all portable equipment in guest rooms, offices and outlets. Ensure the PAT test schedule is updated and within its expiry date.
• Ensure Fire, Life, Health, Safety and Security documentation are up to date and all preventive maintenance are carried out by respective contractor timely.

Job Requirements

• Preferably 3 year(s) of working experience in similar capacity and industry, in building maintenance, Hotel, and with supervisory function.
• Preferably specializing in Maintenance/Repair, with electrician license, as required in SIngapore.
• This role is subject to rotational shifts and off/rest day.

Job Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the project methodology and technical submission

· Lead the project resources planning and execution

· Liaise, coordinate and conduct inspection with project stakeholders i.e. Project Owners, Consultants and Subcontractors, etc.

· Monitor work progress and ensure on time delivery of projects

· Report to Management on progress of projects

· Ensure project on time delivery and within project budget

Job Requirements:

· Degree in Civil Engineering from a university recognized by Singapore PE Board

· Preferably 2~3 years experience on project management and civil engineering projects in Singapore

· Good communication and interpersonal skills

· Good Command of English and Mandarin to speak to Mandarin speaking associates

· Software skills on MS Project and ACAD preferred

· Self-motivated and able to work independently

· Possess Motor Vehicle Driving License will be an added advantage
