Job Description
This role is primarily accountable for directly overseeing all technical matters and procurement activities for SG group companies. Additionally, the role will also be responsible for safety management onboard the fleet. The person would also be required to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, with a focus on emerging technologies in the maritime sector, including electric and hybrid propulsion systems and eventually propose and lead initiatives to integrate new technologies into existing systems, enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
Job Accountability
Leadership
· Part of SG group management team.
· Oversee, manage departments related to key activities associated with the role.
· Provide mentoring & guidance for hiring, development, of staff in respective and associated departments
Engineering
· Accountable for maintenance and upkeep of all fleet vessels - owned and operated by SG group, including sourcing of spares and parts.
· Accountable for Planned maintenance system implementation and maintenance, including monitoring and managing the operational performance of the fleet.
· Setup and execute all engineering related projects and other specific projects as per management requirement, for SG group
· Accountable for management, including selection of engineering services vendors.
Procurement
· Accountable for overseeing all group related procurement activities and budget accountability.
Finance
· Accountable for budget management for operations in engineering and procurement department.
· Responsible for managing financial delegation for expenses as per group policies.
Compliance
· Responsible for ensuring compliance with company polices and rules within respective department.
· Preparation and presentation of reports relating to fleet operational performance to support group KPI’s and reporting requirements.
· Conduct of incident investigations and analysis of engineering matters or as assigned by COO.
Any other activity as required for the company’s deliverables as discussed in the leadership group.
Educational/Skills Qualification
Education
· Degree/Diploma in Mechanical engineering or Maritime certificate of competency(engineering)
· Experienced in overseeing engineering projects
· 3-4 years’ experience in a team lead experience in technical position.
