• Onboard new sources of fundamental data for the development and improvement of supply demand models, trade flow matrices and cash markets monitoring. A particular emphasis will be put on industrial and demand data for China and the rest of Asia.
• Carry systematic surveys with our physical business counterparts and integrate results within Squarepoint technical infrastructure.

Model monitoring

• Monitor skill of S&D against realized inventories.
• Monitor model inputs to ensure that model results are always to industry-leading standards.
• Monitor changing regulatory environment to include updates into models.

Analysis and trade recommendations

• Participate in industry events and field trips to follow trends and developments.
• Drive fundamental risk modeling of existing trading positions from model.
• Propose, support and follow trade deas centered around base metals:
  • Generate/update fundamental dashboards on demand or the trading team.
  • Record and track trade ideas through Squarepoint dedicated system.
• Work with the extended research team to synthesize in-house S&Ds forecasts and monitor trade ideas.
• Conduct analysis on Asia regional S&D, end-user forecast, trade flow etc

Requirements:

· Strong understanding of Copper in Asia and detailed related SnD balance. Knowledge of Aluminum, Iron Ore and/or Nickel fundamentals in Asia is a plus.

· Specific focus on demand drivers as well as smelting/refining and semi-manufacturing dynamics is a plus.

· Strong expertise in fundamental analysis framework

· Solid existing network with Chinese base metal industrials (including on site visits). Knowledge of local vendors is a plus.

· Experience in top miner, physical trader and investment fund

· Good documentation skills (able to properly document models).

· Desire to interact with traders and other analysts on a frequent basis.

· Fluent in Mandarin and English.
