Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage full sets of accounts of a given portfolio of client companies

Requirements

Group Accounting Manager (Shipping Industry)

As part of the Group and Corporate team within the Financial Control (FinCon) department, the individual will be working closely with other FinCon functions, commercial and legal teams to manage the financial health and compliance of the company.

Job Description

• Prepare IFRS consolidated reports for segmental results within the Group.

• Oversee statutory and tax compliance requirement of group and individual shipping entities. This include managing the annual audit process, submission of tax returns and monitoring changes in accounting and tax regulations to ensure compliance.

• Represent FinCon in BEPS 2.0 project data compilation for purpose of tax compliance. As BEPS 2.0 rules are evolving, the candidate will work closely with our tax advisors to understand the latest BEPS developments and intrinsic rules surrounding it and apply the knowledge for tax compliance reporting.

• Lead ad-hoc projects independently with internal and external stakeholders.

• Business partnering with Commercial department to propose, review and improve current reporting initiatives (e.g. dashboarding, key financial metrics etc.).

• Review and analyse monthly financial reports prepared by vessel accountants and provide insights as part of the monthly Flash reporting to management.

• Assess charter arrangements of vessels and ensure compliance with group’s policies for both financial and management reporting. Financial review includes application of accounting standards and management review includes converting IFRS to non-IFRS measures, quantifying revenue backlog/committed revenue, reviewing aged accounts receivable positions, and evaluating expected credit loss in Charterers’ receivable position.

Qualifications / Experiences

• A recognized degree or professional qualification in Accountancy or equivalent, Chartered Accountant qualification preferred.

• Preferably 1 – 2 years of experience in similar managerial capacity, leading a small team, within shipping industry

• Knowledge of BEPS 2.0 is advantageous.

• Prior experience with IMOS and Oracle ERP and EPM module is highly preferred.

Job Descriptions

• Communicate with the company’s tax agent, provide relevant tax information, and verify the tax agent’s submitted data to ensure accurate and compliant tax filings.
• Communicate with external auditors, provide the necessary data for the audit, and ensure the company’s annual report is properly disclosed.
• Process for staff claims and payment for daily operating expenses.
• Prepare accounting schedules such as Fixed Assets Register and Listing of OPEX.
• Prepare and posting of Journal Entries.
• Other administrative supports.

Requirements:

• Degree in accountancy or related accounting qualifications.
• Minimum 3 years relevant accounting experience in banks.
• Basic understanding of financial products and services.
• Proficient in MS Excel is essential as incumbent need to harness data on daily basis.
