Qualifications and skills

Role Description:

Reporting into the Audit Manager, or equivalent, the Audit Associate undertakes specific stages of audit work under supervision, and familiarizes themselves with the underlying principles behind the tasks assigned to him as part of the audit plan, making adjustment to the application of skills to improve the work tasks or solve audit issues.

When it comes to working in a team, the Audit Associate I is able to build relationships, work cooperatively and identify ethical issues with reference to the code of professional conduct and ethics. He/She is also able to select and apply from a range of known solutions to familiar problems and takes responsibility for his/her own learning and performance.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Audit Senior in performing audit and assurance engagement activities, undertaking specific tasks in the planning, execution and delivery stages of the audit under supervision.
• Perform tasks on audit and assurance engagements in compliance with the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, Singapore Standards on Auditing, Singapore Companies Act and the Ethics Pronouncements in Singapore.
• Review financial statements in accordance with the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards, Singapore Standards on Auditing, Singapore Companies Act and the Ethics Pronouncements in Singapore.
• Execute assigned engagement-related tasks under supervision, including tests of controls, analytical procedures, substantive tests and collection of evidence to corroborate information as part of the audit program.
• Validate the accuracy of information accompanying the audit report, perform data analysis and identify significant accounting and auditing issues present in the data.
• Act in accordance with the Singapore Standards in Auditing, Ethics Pronouncements in Singapore, the Singapore Companies Act and the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards when providing audit and assurance services.
• Identify ethical conflicts in the work environment.
• Ensure compliance with the firms quality control procedures.
• Be a team player, working cooperatively and communicating effectively in the work environment.
• Identify areas for personal development to improve work performance.

• Collaborate with banks to ensure the growth of the company's credit limits and maintain sufficient borrowing liquidity. Manage existing credit limits and determine the company's borrowing policies.

Job Requirements: -

• Business-level communication skills in Japanese, including written (JLPT N1 or equivalent). The Japanese language is essential in communicating with Japanese customers and reporting to headquarters.
• Possess knowledge in finance to analyze interest rate market trends for fundraising and effectively manage asset-liability maturity matching.
• Have accounting-related knowledge to assist auditors in completing annual financial statement tasks.
• Have relevant experience in corporate performance management and annual planning, including company budget management.
• Experience in Japanese financial industry is a plus.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting or ACCA/ CPA/ CA qualified
• More than 8 years of experience in handling the full sets of accounts (specifically in managing AP and GL) in the commercial sector, good knowledge of accounting principles
• Regional exposure in MNCs required
• More than 3 years of experience in team management
• Exposure from Infrastructure, Real Estate, Property, Construction industry can be advantageous
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible, collaborative, hands-on, driven, has a positive attitude, good communication
• Able to work well in a fluid environment, willing to roll up sleeves to get hands dirty when required

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible in managing a Finance operations portfolio with a main focus in overseeing Accounts Payables (AP) and the review of General Ledger (GL), looking at process improvement and streamlining of existing AP processes. You will manage day to day operations, month-end closing, and ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial records.
