Responsibilities

• Assist in therapy and related service delivery to residents.
• Assist in maintenance of accurate documentation of therapy service as required by the Company’s quality procedures and guidelines.
• Participate in-service education and training programs.
• Participate in any and all activities related to the smooth running of department.

Areas of Accountability

Clinical

• Prepare equipment (electrotherapy and traction) and resident for therapy sessions.
• Perform passive range of motion exercises, heat, cold and wax therapy and group therapy.
• Carry out therapy as instructed by physiotherapist as follows.
• Gait training, stair climbing, transfer training and bed mobility training.
• Exercise programs like stretches and strengthening programs.
• Supervise resident in therapy area to ensure safety.
• Transport residents to and from the ward to physiotherapy area.

Administrative and Management Practice

• Help maintain assessment forms, residents record and filing system.
• Help handle enquiries, resident registration, appointment making and resident billing, collection of letters / documents from the office.
• Typing documents as assigned by the therapist.
• List down all the residents need to be seen daily for PT.
• Record B.P every morning for residents scheduled for the day and print BP forms every week.
• Update TCU Monitoring Log twice a week.
• In charge of the general cleanliness and infection control of department area.
• Ensure that physiotherapy area is clean and tidy.
• Liaise with department cleaner and ensure daily routine cleanliness of department and change of linen and towel once at least once a week by hospital cleaners.
• Once a month, thorough cleaning of rehabilitation equipment with disinfectant.
• Help refill tissue paper, disposable gloves, sterile hand rub
• Help maintain physiotherapy equipment.
• Help maintain and update rehabilitation inventory in rehab area.
• Collate and photocopy progress reports for every month & assist in filing.

Staff Development / Education

• Keep abreast with latest development in physiotherapy related areas by reading journals and surf the website.
• Attend in-service on physiotherapy related areas for peers.
• Participate in research projects.
