We are looking for a full-time research assistant to support an MOE-funded research project on cancer and public health. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigator and a team of cancer clinicians and researchers, and will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in socio-behavioural research to improve cancer care.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the administration and management of research projects, including coordinating the research team’s meetings and activities and preparing the research ethics application.
• Conduct research fieldwork, including recruiting participants, coordinating interview schedules, administering informed consent forms, conducting qualitative interviews and transcribing interviews verbatim.
• Conduct qualitative data analysis, and work with the research team in preparing research reports/manuscripts.

Requirements:

• Excellent academic writing and communication skills in English.
• Experience of successfully managing multiple tasks concurrently.
• Some qualitative research skills and experience, including at least some experience with conducting semi-structured interviews and/or analysing qualitative data and interest in learning how to conduct socio-behavioural research in cancer care.
• Highly organized and able to work effectively under pressure, use independent judgement, produce high-quality quality work, and problem solve within time constraints.
• Able to work independently as well as with a team.

Desirable:

• Degree or relevant experience in social science methodology or health care.
• Experience with Atlas.ai/NVivo and R or similar software to manage qualitative data or the interest to learn.
• Experience in conducting qualitative interviews.
• Able to speak Mandarin/Chinese dialects or Malay/Tamil is an advantage as some research participants may only speak their mother tongue.

Job Description

A full-time Research Assistant position in the team led by Assistant Professor Chua Wei Ling is available at the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies, National University of Singapore. The selected candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator in the research domains of (i) nursing staffing and patient outcomes and (ii) post-sepsis syndrome.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to further experience in research with a view to a Master’s and/or PhD with the Principal Investigator.

Appointment will be made on a 12-month contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension, depending on project commitments and candidate’s career objectives.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

1. Oversee the administration and general management of the research projects, including support with grant and ethics application and liaise with relevant stakeholders in preparing research agreements.
2. Conduct research fieldwork, including recruiting and managing participants, data collection, data analysis.
3. Assist in preparing reports and meeting materials for stakeholders.
4. Work on other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Update designated tracker as request forms come in for transcription wordcount, on‑time delivery (date and time of creation of transcripts) Assist in transcript production & prepare month-end reports Invoicing for State Courts & clients
• Prepare & send invoicing details to Finance team to draft
• Review and confirm invoice details before Finance issue the invoice to State Courts & clients
• Submit invoices via designated platforms if required
• Liaises with clients on invoice status
• Update error notification tracker and track error penalty credit notes to State Courts or clients
• Consolidate all turnsheets and crosscheck transcriber wordcount under State Courts and other work done by State Court team;
• Send consolidated turnsheet and reports to Finance team for charge-backs and payouts. Take on any ad hoc responsibility within the scope of this role as required

Administration

• Ensure transcripts are produced and prepared for release to parties as per due date
• Update turnsheets and assign work to transcribers; merge transcripts and do second level quality checks

• Undertake transcript amendments
• Attending to case requests from ordering parties (Update Diary, due dates, case summary, case folder etc.) and following up with clients for documents etc.
