The Hwei-Ee Tan lab studies the fundamental biological basis of “gut-feelings”, how bacteria in the gut signals to the host to influence physiology and behaviour. Using mice as a mammalian model, the lab investigates how diet and microbiome factors modulates host phenotypes (e.g. food reward, anxiety behaviours, etc). Besides supporting curiosity-driven basic research on the gut-brain axis, his lab is also studying the brain-gut axis, to uncover host-microbe interactions. His lab’s work is multidisciplinary, the research scope covers diverse skills from molecular biology to systems neuroscience, physiology and behaviour. The Youth Care Worker is responsible with delivering trauma-informed care, supervision, and management to female adolescents who have faced abuse or neglect. Focused on enhancing wellness and quality of life, the Youth Care Worker ensures that the residents' basic personal, physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational, and social needs are comprehensively addressed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the daily operational duties and supervise residents in their regular activities
• Assist residents with any difficulties related to day-to-day issues at Dayspring Residential Treatment Centre and ensure their welfare and safety
• Promote discipline among the residents and be a mentor/role model to them
• Assess, respond and handle crises or conflicts
• Carry out individual therapeutic interventions based on care plans by treatment team
• Participate in providing physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational, and social needs of residents

Requirement

Youth Mentors are required to work with young beneficiaries with complex trauma

• With experience in working with youth at-risk
• With basic processing and counselling skills
• With knowledge of common issues and disorders that appears in trauma and abuse
• Willing to work on 3-shift rotations and over weekend/Public Holidays

Job scopes:

• To meet and greet visitors, lead them to appropriate room and do welcome script (covering use of meeting room system, restrooms, fire exits, etc)
• To attend enquires from staff/ courier services and receiving mails (recording & send email reminders)
• To offer the management staff / external guests the choice of beverages available and assist to serve / arrange staff to serve accordingly.
• To check on meeting room set up standards, floral arrangements, and report facility faults

c. To send reminders email to users
d. To oversee reconfiguration of meeting room set up
e. To prepare weekly schedules for stewardesses / technicians

Requirements:

• Minimally GCE ‘O’ Level
• Computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Words
• With working experience as customer service executive is a plus
