We are looking for a self-driven and experienced Group Commercial & Agency Management, Assistant Manager for one of our shipping clients. This role involves driving sales targets, managing commercial operations, and maintaining strong client relationships in alignment with organizational goals for both Carrier Owned Container (COC) and Shipper Owned Container (SOC) services. The incumbent should have at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Reports:

• Prepare and deliver monthly reports for COC/SOC services, analyzing market trends, and providing updates to the Reporting Manager.

Daily Operations Management:

• Work closely with Customer Service and other internal stakeholders such as local operations, transshipment, documentation teams, and headquarters (Trades & Group Commercial and Agency Management - Agency Network Management).

Sales and Growth:

• Achieve sales targets and grow sales accounts throughout our networks.

• Assist in formulating marketing and pricing strategies, negotiating freight rates, maximizing vessel utilization, and managing cargo volumes.

• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and provide effective commercial recommendations based on market intelligence.

Client Relationship Management:

• Develop opportunities with current and new clients through strategic outreach and proposals.

Opportunity Development:

• Instead of cold-calling, identify potential clients and develop engagement strategies to grow business opportunities.

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day advisory and banking/financial market expertise support to the business

• Co-manage Global Trade Credit Insurance program with Commercial Credit Risk lead;
• Risk management: identifying, analyzing, and mitigating against financial risks, assisting in, or leading risk management activities.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent.
• MBA, CPA/CA, CTP (Certified Treasury Professional), AMCT (Diploma in Treasury Management), CTFP (Certified Finance and Treasury Professional) or similar preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive treasury/finance management experience in a large multinational with previous experience working with or on treasury-related issues.
• Displays strong leadership qualities, a team player with the ability to work independently in a fluid and sometimes ambiguous environment; capable of adjusting in both day-to-day and large-scale activities based on new information and developments.
• Sound understanding of trade working capital drivers, contract to cash & purchase-to-pay processes, and their impact on Rio Tinto’s cash flow/liquidity.
