You will be responsible for overseeing an ever-shifting ‘portfolio’ of ongoing creative work, new projects, and pitches, and building out the VIRTUE Asia creative team, product, reputation and inside culture initiatives.

Over time, you would have direct reports which will require managing in terms of 360 feedback, annual reviews, promotion and compensation conversations. And beyond the people management piece, the role is responsible for contributing to the overall creative vision, participating in industry events, running awards submissions processes, and recruitment efforts.

As a Creative Director here, you would be responsible for cultivating a culture of creative excellence above all else. You’d be expected to ensure every project under your purview lives up to our collective expectations and the larger creative vision and objectives of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Set the bar for creative excellence and brilliance at the start of every project, so the creative lead and working team know precisely how high we’re aiming.
• Work with strategy and client management to ‘widen the doorway’ for excellent work from the very beginning. It will be on you to think critically about the ask, the brief, the insight and work with interdepartmental peers to shape the overall direction of the project.
• Provide creative direction for a number of projects simultaneously, making sure none of them backslide over the course of creative development.
• Be a sounding board and supportive creative leader for the creative leads under your direction while at the same time making sure they know and understand the high expectations of the work.
• Cultivate a culture of high-volume creativity. This means pushing your creative leads to generate lots and lots of ideas from their team, knowing that most of them will either miss the mark strategically, creatively, or feasibly. From this process, beautiful gems can be unearthed.
• Guide creative leads in developing creative presentations, running mega pitches, being magnificent in front of clients, handling shoots, all the usual stuff.
• Help management shape and optimize the creative department based on changes in the industry, the changing needs of the business, and the larger objectives of the agency.
• Jump in to teach creative leads and more junior creatives whenever the opportunity arises. Your knowledge is invaluable to them.
• Make sure you and the creative department as a whole are aware of the work out there in the industry right now. Not just the bad stuff, but the ‘good’ stuff too.
• Work collaboratively and respectfully with members of other departments (strategy, client management, creative production, integrated production, etc).
• Remain (and help your team remain) adaptable to changing and sometimes stressful circumstances.
• Help creative leads be leaders in their own right, encouraging them to stay focused on solutions instead of problems.
• Ensure that creative leads are contributing to a positive environment for all team members, in part by modeling this behavior.
• Through day-to-day conversations and interactions with the creative team, build a culture focused on the collective needs of the agency over individual wants.
• Play a significant role in talent recruitment, book reviews, interviews, etc, partnering with our talent team to bring on the best folks for our business.
• Work with the Business Development team to handle creds meetings, client engagement opportunities
• Run internal departmental meetings when requested/required.

You will bring:

• Significant experience in brand creative, including managing and directing multi-layered creative teams.
• Experience managing a creative team up to the Creative Director level.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Creative Director to drive design excellence across the company's digital platforms and marketing initiatives. This leadership role combines oversight of the UI/UX design team responsible for web and mobile app design, with the management of the graphic design team responsible for a wide range of visual assets, including event key visuals, logos, banners, posters, and more. Additionally, the role involves planning and executing exclusive client events aimed at high-net-worth individuals, as well as overseeing both internal and external company activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. UI/UX Design Leadership:

• Lead and manage the UI design team, overseeing the design of web and mobile applications, ensuring that the company’s digital experiences are both user-friendly and aesthetically engaging.
• Contribute directly to product design by creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs that reflect the needs of users and align with business goals.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to continuously refine and optimize user interfaces.
• Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure designs are seamlessly integrated into products.
• Maintain consistency and quality across all digital products, ensuring a cohesive design language and visual identity.

2. Graphic Design Leadership:

• Lead the graphic design team, taking full responsibility for the company’s visual design initiatives, including but not limited to event key visuals (KVs), logos, banners, posters, brochures, and promotional materials.
• Ensure all graphic design work aligns with the company’s branding and overall creative direction.
• Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop compelling visuals for online and offline campaigns, ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints.
• Create and manage the company’s graphic design assets library, ensuring that all materials are easily accessible and up-to-date.

3. Event Planning & Execution (High-Net-Worth Client Activities):

• Lead the planning, design, an exclusive series of activities and events targeted at high-net-worth clients, designed to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal and external events, ensuring that they are designed and executed flawlessly in line with the company’s objectives.
• Collaborate with the marketing and PR teams to ensure all events have strong visual elements, including event branding, invitations, and promotional materials.
• Manage logistics and oversee creative processes for all event materials, from digital invitations to venue design and event collateral.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership:

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to both the UI/UX and graphic design teams, fostering a collaborative, creative, and results-driven environment.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (product, marketing, sales, etc.) to ensure design solutions meet business objectives and contribute to company success.
• Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and design workflows, ensuring that deadlines and objectives are met efficiently.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Visual Communication Design, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in both UI/UX and graphic design, with at least 4 years in a leadership or team management role.
• Proven experience in designing for web and mobile applications, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality UI/UX and graphic design work.
• Expertise in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, XD), Sketch, Figma, and other industry-standard design tools.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.

Project Management

- Establishes program with Project Manager/Principal.

- Prepares progress reports. Alerts Project Manager to any changes in scope, lack of information or decisions from client.

Oversees interior design aspects of construction:

- Assists with construction oversight for general conformance with the interior design concept.

- Responds to construction questions as they relate to interior design issues.

Directs / supervises the gathering of the technical specifications for various interior design elements (FF&E).

- Selects and directs materials for project.

Confers and corresponds with client representatives, to determine project parameters / requirements; participates in design presentations.

Directs construction of finish boards.

Participates in the development of “in-house” design standards; assures that design policies, procedures, standards and philosophies are adhered to.

Responsible for personal and staff development

- Performs senior staff development duties such as mentoring, training, supervising and directing junior staff.
