About the position:

The goal of the Risk and Underwriting Department is to mitigate financial loss to the company through proactive merchant review and analysis. This position reports to the Regional Director, Risk & Underwriting Operations.

The Credit Risk Underwriter will proactively review incoming merchant applications for Fraud and Credit Risk and analyze said referrals to qualify their creditworthiness.

The Candidate will utilize various tools to review and analyze merchant activity, business structure, and financial exposure. This information will be used to decision individual accounts.

Main Responsibilities:

• Review merchant applications and determine if main activity falls outside of approved parameters.
• Identify, investigate and report potentially suspicious applications.
• Perform all necessary KYC/KYB functions in accordance with scheme and regulatory rules.
• Make decisions regarding the disposition of merchant processing activity to mitigate losses to the company.
• Assist in the mitigation of losses by ensuring activities are an accurate representation of merchant’s business model.
• Provide various reporting to management.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Conduct detailed credit & risk analysis of applying merchant accounts to determine creditworthiness as well as identifying potential risks.
• Demonstrate strong methodical skills in analyzing data, drawing meaningful conclusions, preparing written summary of results in accordance with department procedures & making holistic business recommendations.
• Maintain communication & collaboration with partners, merchants & co-workers.
• Process applications efficiently & with analytical thinking to reduce & streamline the workload of the underwriting department within a reasonable time frame.
• Answer internal and external inquiries regarding Underwriting issues.

• Bachelors in finance or the equivalent in relevant experience and training.
• 5 years of experience in risk management and/or underwriting.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Experience payments or bank card industry.
• Knowledge of card scheme rules, regulations, and registration requirements
• Good practical knowledge of Excel.
• Good business sense.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Prepare regular collections and accounts receivable status reports for management.
• Liaise with insurers to apply for trade credit insurance for customer accounts with credit terms.
• Liaise with banks regarding bank guarantees, including letters of credit.
• Verify supporting documents to carry out billings to customers.
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
• Proficiency in SAP software is an advantage

The Trading Credit Senior Advisor will be a key member in our Global Trading Credit team, working closely with traders, the Finance and Risk team and our global Credit organization to provide effective credit risk management and build up our capabilities to support the growing Global Trading organization. This position will report directly to the Global Trading Credit Manager in Houston.

What you will do

Responsibilities will include:

· Performing counterparty evaluations and risk assessments, proposing appropriate credit limit recommendations, and advising traders on credit risk appetite

· Providing real-time support to Trading teams on the identification and assessment of credit risks in spot and term deals

· Assisting in design and development of future credit risk capabilities and system requirements

· Supporting origination and structured finance teams in the design, evaluation and monitoring of complex structures across commodities

· Advising and negotiating on credit provisions, collateral requirements and security needs within trade and credit support agreements

· Risk monitoring of a regional trade portfolio, notifying Credit and Trading managers of any material risks or significant events

· Managing and maintaining external relationships with counterparties, financial intermediaries, and credit risk insurers

· Liaising across teams to connect credit risk with market, liquidity and other risks managed by traders

Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college or university

· MBA or advanced degree
