Maintenance / Service Technician
Summary:
The selected candidate shall be able to read and work from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly protocols. There will be use of parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, presses, torches, hand, and power tools. The selected candidate will be responsible for disassembling gear drives, inspecting disassembled parts, write up and reporting failed parts, and advise on replacement parts.
Required to go on field service calls within Southeast Asia to inspect, repair, install, and commission gear drives and other transmission parts at customer sites upon the request of Service Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
• Inspection, service, and maintenance on gear drives which include bevel, helical, planetary, mixer drive, mill drive, screw extruder units, hoist and swing gear drives, variator drives, marine drives, couplings and their subassemblies
• Direct interaction and coordination with customers’ site personnel
• Troubleshoot errors and advise on corrective action
• Self-motivated and able to work a flexible schedule as required (weekends may be required)
• Ability to analyse and resolve issues independently and efficiently.
• Write customer facing reports, which include Technician’s camera or bore scope photographs
• Create expense reports
Required Experience:
• 10 years prior experience in power transmission, heavy equipment assembly, marine, or wind gearbox applications
• Equivalent of 5 years’ experience specifically in field service operations
• Knowledge and experience with blueprints, metric system, work standards, ISO and quality documentation, basic gearing and bearings
• Mechanical skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces
• Flexible travel schedule
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must meet body weight restrictions that allow safe use of ladders and equipment as required by the safety regulations
Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
• Hands on work experience as a Field Service or Wind Technician on a Wind Farm
• Relevant work experience e.g. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance/troubleshooting in a military, industrial, or automotive industry
• Lathe and surface grinder experience
• Crane and rigging experience necessary
