You will be part of an enterprise-wide strategic digital transformation initiative which will drive data and analytics transparency and seamless integration across strategic domains. The programme will define the strategy, approach, and processes by which the organisation acquires, stores, curates, manages, and analyses data, setting standards for data and analytics quality and security. Working within the programme team, you will participate in an evidence-driven culture of decision-making and demonstrate outstanding use of data and analytics at Dyson.

In this role, you will work together with existing functions and teams working on data and analytics, contribute to an ambitious and inclusive data and analytics transformation strategy, and participate in driving benefit across the organisation. About the role
This exciting role will allow you to bring your extensive Data Science expertise into a fascinating problem space – as we create innovative data products to drive enhancements to the owner experience through our app and machines.
The Lead Data Scientist will involve hands-on management and implementation of multiple Data Science projects and contributing to overall strategy across wider initiatives and programmes. You will work closely with Data Scientists, Data Product Managers, Data Product Owners and MLOps Engineers – evolving and improving our Connected Intelligence Platform, Connected Control Tower, our Data Science toolset, and the data products that we create.
In this role, you will:
- Develop a solid understanding of ML and Data Science, emphasizing skills in A/B experiment design, forecasting, segmentation, recommender systems, and statistical methodologies.
- Contribute to end-to-end projects in Data Science and Data Engineering, actively participating in the evolution of the Data roadmap and various initiatives.
- Provide technical support, engage in code reviews, and assist in process improvement and automation efforts.
- Effectively communicate with Product Owners and senior stakeholders, driving engagement in new opportunities for Dyson.
- Assist in refining executive-level reporting capabilities, ensuring the quality of analysis meets established standards.
- Stay informed about industry trends in Data Science and bring relevant insights to the team for decision-making.
- Take a more active role in recruitment activities, contributing to the growth and success of our expanding Data team.
About you
- Proven experience in Python development in both Data Science and Software Engineering contexts, with the ability and desire to upskill and coach team members in concepts such as
- APIs and services
- Unit-testing
- OOP
- Commonly used packages such as statsmodels, scikit-learn, tensorflow
- Proficiency in SQL, with exposure to BigQuery or Redshift being advantageous
- Moderate expertise in Cloud platforms, particularly GCP or AWS, is a plus
- Leading the design and implementation of automated analytics solutions in complex production environments
- Direct involvement in spearheading the development and successful delivery of impactful predictive models within a business context
- Demonstrated expertise in the comprehensive understanding and practical application of advanced statistical concepts
- Experience conducting advanced statistical modeling and analyses in intricate settings, exemplified by roles in sophisticated environments such as research, academia, consultancy, or ecology.
- Enjoy driving business value through Data Science and measuring progress against KPIs.
- Ability to prioritise and manage tasks in a dynamic environment, steering multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills and an ability to present insights in a clear manner.
- Advanced proficiency in crafting compelling narratives through data and a demonstrated expertise in utilizing advanced visualization tools such as Tableau and Looker.
