We are looking for a General Ledger candidate to take ownership of our financial operations across India and Indonesia. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our general ledger.

Core Responsibilities
1) Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Approve and review journal entries, including Blackline journal reconciliations, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Review the trial balance and general ledger entries for India and Indonesia, ensuring alignment with accounting standards (India GAAP, IFRS) and tax laws.
- Oversee financial reporting processes, including preparation and review of annual financial statements.
- Support quarterly reporting for advance tax calculations by providing accurate balance sheet and P&L statements to the tax team.
2) Audit and Compliance
- Handle statutory audits for India and Indonesia, including planning, coordinating with auditors, and addressing queries.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, global processes, and company policies.
- Collaborate with legal and tax teams to provide data and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
- Work closely with tax, transfer pricing, legal, AP, and treasury teams on various processes, including GST filings, transfer pricing adjustments, and legal compliance.
3) Operational Oversight
- Collaborate with the treasury team for activities such as capital injections, foreign payments, and cash flow management.
- Monitor and handle the physical invoices received in India, ensuring proper reporting and sharing with regional teams.
- Review and report employee expense forms (TEM forms) to ensure compliance with policies.
- Provide support for ad-hoc requests, including certificates and documentation for tax and legal teams.
4) Process Improvement and Problem Solving
- Identify and implement solutions and processes to address unique local requirements (e.g. India-specific requirements) while aligning with global and regional processes
- Proactively address ad-hoc requests and design solutions for issues related to accounting, tax, and regulatory compliance.

You will be a part of Business Service Operations (BSO), which is a shared service center that delivers Employee and Finance services to The LEGO Group from 5 locations – Monterrey, Prague, Singapore, China and Vietnam. The purpose of the BSO is to create an effective and efficient platform to support the growth strategy of The LEGO Group and our ambitions to reach twice as many children over the next 5-7 years.

Within BSO, the GL team is responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of the consolidation reports and meeting the global tax and statutory compliance requirements. The department balances a mix of internal resources and third parties to efficiently meet global compliance requirements. There is a strong focus on transparent and accurate status reporting, maintaining a strong internal control framework, using technology and standard processes to meet our operational targets.
The role requires a teammate who is independent and has a self-starter mentality, one who can deliver operational objectives through strong collaboration and with a service mentality towards key partners.
Do you have what it takes?
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.
- Min degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance or related.
- Min 5 years of audit and/or financial controlling experience with proven experience with India’s local statutory and accounting regulations, preferably in a global MNC environment.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong ability to work independently.
- Strong knowledge of local accounting standards (IndAS) and IFRS, with thorough understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of accounting and compliance.
- Familiarity with company law, GST, income tax, FEMA, and other regulatory frameworks in India and Indonesia.
- Proficiency in financial systems, including SAP and Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to run tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with shown ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and geographies, including APAC and global partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address India-specific complexities and align them with global processes.
