Overall Job Purpose

• The engineer is to act as Electrical Commissioning Lead (entire Electrical Systems Lead), manage all Electrical system commissioning from preparation phase to execution phase.
• During commissioning preparation phase, responsible to attend Supplier Kick Off meetings to roll out package related commissioning requirements, review of Supplier documents, review ITR assignment and provide inputs for commissioning schedule.
• Prepare and review system boundary, commissioning procedures and commissioning deliverables.
• Support Commissioning Manager and Commissioning Project Engineer in the preparation of required tools, utilities, first fills and others for the commissioning activities of Electrical systems.
• Electrical Commissioning Lead is responsible for successful and safe commissioning of their area / system following the commissioning strategy set by Commissioning Manager.
• At times may act as a responsible commissioning engineer (owner) for few major systems in the area
• Work closely with MC Coordinator, Commissioning Coordinator for timely completion of the ITRs, mechanical completion and commissioning completion.
• Supervise day-to-day electrical commissioning activities are complied with Company’s Standards and Procedures.
• Identify and integrate Safety, Quality requirements in the electrical commissioning activities to ensure safe operability and maintainability.
• Understands the Completions philosophy and Scope of Work by studying the applicable industry standards, Company standards, specifications and procedures.
• Manages electrical commissioning PTW, electrical commissioning engineers, assigned technicians, operations support, supplier support and CLASS witness to execute the approved commissioning procedure including performance standards verification successfully, sign off the test reports and support for the system dossiers completion until handover.
• Studies the complex Company’s standards, business, operations and practices as well as engineering work matters/systems/procedures/standards within the tight project schedule in order to develop commissioning deliverables.
• Applies effective communication in discussions with various disciplines and departments in order to clarify complex information which is required as input for commissioning deliverables.
• Is expected to work independently and lead electrical commissioning team in order to complete the work schedule and fulfill the project timelines.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

1. Installation: Mounting solar panels on rooftops or other structures following engineering plans and specifications. This includes drilling, bolting, and securing panels in place.
2. Electrical Wiring: Connecting solar panels to electrical systems, including inverters, batteries, and grid connections. Knowledge of electrical wiring and basic electrical principles is essential.
3. System Testing: Conducting tests to ensure proper functionality and performance of installed solar systems. This may involve voltage testing, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.
4. Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance and repairs on solar energy systems to optimize performance and longevity. This includes cleaning panels, inspecting electrical connections, and replacing faulty components.
5. Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety guidelines and protocols to minimize risks associated with working at heights, electrical hazards, and other potential dangers. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety procedures.
6. Customer Service: Communicating with customers to address any questions or concerns regarding the installation or operation of solar energy systems. Providing excellent customer service and ensuring customer satisfaction.
7. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of installation projects, including photos, schematics, and inspection reports. This documentation may be required for permits, warranties, or future servicing.

Qualifications:

1. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using hand and power tools for construction and electrical work. Knowledge of solar panel installation techniques and electrical wiring principles.
2. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment, working at heights, and standing for extended periods.
3. Electrical Knowledge: Understanding of basic electrical concepts, including voltage, current, and circuitry. Experience with electrical wiring and troubleshooting is advantageous.
4. Safety Consciousness: Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Awareness of potential hazards and the ability to mitigate risks.
5. Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and supervisors. Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
6. Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude for diagnosing and resolving technical issues encountered during installation or maintenance activities. Resourcefulness in finding solutions to challenges that may arise.
7. Certification: Certification or training in solar panel installation, electrical work, or related fields is preferred. This may include certifications from organizations such as the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP).

• Develop, maintain and update engineering standards;
• Ensure compliance with Company quality program;
• Provide recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection;
• Perform complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles;
• Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing or Business development;
• Support multiple projects on the complex technical challenges;
• Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems
• Develop battery container layouts and coordinate with electrical, civil and PV engineering team for complete packages for installation;
• Develop single-line and three-line diagrams with required electrical details for the battery system in accordance with local codes and requirements;
• Model energy storage system performance, coordinate, obtain and integrate BMS, EMS and SCADA designs for the battery system from third party monitoring companies;
• Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for owners, engineering firms and contractors.
• Design for different types of battery enclosure type solutions like cabinet type, container type, building type storage solution;
• Identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with Batteries / PCS / HVAC / FFS for different enclosure systems;
• Investigates design factors such as but not limited to the function, durability, performance, efficiency, and contractual requirements;
• Other scope of work to be assigned.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the areas of Renewable Energy Systems, preferably with a specialisation in power systems, solar PV, battery storage, wind energy systems;
• Minimum Degree in Engineering or equivalent;
• Knowledgeable and experience on the different parameters for design, selection, and sizing of the batteries as well leveraging the parameters to optimise sizes of the batteries;
• Experience on Battery Energy Storage System design, chemistry selection, performance modelling, lifetime estimation simulations of batteries, degradation and augmentation schedules, visualization of business model (duty cycle) would be advantageous;
• Strong project management skills;
• Proficient in AutoCAD
