Job Description:

Financial Reporting/ Closing:

• Manage the general ledger (including posting journal entries, maintaining chart of accounts, and accurate transaction coding)
• Conduct regular GL account reconciliations to validate balances and promptly rectify any disparities.
• Assist in closing of accounts as assigned, including preparation of monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist in gathering financial information requested by internal/external auditors and regulators.
• Monitor and assess the impact of financial trends on the organization’s financial stability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and ensure completeness and accuracy in reporting.

Control and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance to financial regulations and adherence with local and international accounting standards.
• Establish and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Tax Planning and Compliance:

• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax returns.
• Collaborate with tax advisors to optimize the organization's tax position.

Ad Hoc Projects:

• Participating in special projects and initiatives as assigned, such as, system implementations, or process improvement.
• Support development and maintenance of an efficient financial system.

Qualifications:

• Full set accounting knowledge is required
• Minimum diploma in accounting (with at least 2 to 3 years working experience in education and charity sector would be preferred)
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial analysis.
• Team-oriented individual with resourcefulness and effective communication skills.
• Process strong analytical skill, meticulous and able to work independently.
• Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.

We are looking for a Finance Business Partner Lead to join our team in Rio Tinto’s Commercial Hub in Singapore. The role is a great opportunity to work with senior Rio Tinto leaders and stakeholders to manage planning and performance management and support the execution of strategic decision making. Reporting to the General Manager Commercial Finance we are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual who can:

• Think pro-actively, take initiative and work confidently with senior stakeholders
• Lead planning process to execute our strategy
• Own and drive the planning process for Procurement and Commercial Operations, including business and organisational priorities
  Influence senior management in shaping priorities and delivering outcomes
• Partner with the business to drive performance management and value delivery
• Partner with leaders, finance teams and other stakeholders across the business globally to own and drive the evolution of performance management processes and forward-looking KPI’s
• Support material initiatives, business cases or new category (e.g. decarbonisation) development with financial modelling and trade off decisions

Responsibilities:

• Prepare internal management reports including daily monitoring, report calculations, and daily regulatory database updates.
• Generate Head Office reports and schedules required for Head Office auditors.
• Compile MAS regulatory reports (e.g., MAS 610, MAS 649, MAS 758, MAS 640) and respond to inquiries related to these reports.
• Liaise with the company's tax agent to provide relevant tax information and review submitted data to ensure accurate and compliant tax filings.
• Coordinate with external auditors, providing necessary data and ensuring the company's annual report is properly disclosed.
• Process staff claims and daily operating expenses payments.
• Prepare accounting schedules, including the Fixed Assets Register and Operating Expenses (OPEX) listing.
• Prepare and post journal entries in the accounting system.
• Provide other administrative support as needed.

Requirements:

• Degree in Finance & Accounting with minimum 3 years financial and accounting experience in banks
• Proficient in MS Excel is essential
• Meticulous and good team player
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese as incumbent is required to liaise with colleagues in from mainland China.
