The Research Assistant will participate in seagrass research, with a specific focus on studying effects of nutrient enrichment on marine plants. Successful candidate will work with Dr. Chang and her team on the characterization of fungal diversity in mangrove sediment ecosystems. The funded project aims to characterize and explore the species and functional diversity of fungi in mangrove sediments using an approach combining amplicon sequencing and fungal culturomics.

The main job responsibilities of this position include:

• conduct fieldwork with other team members;
• perform molecular work in the lab (DNA extraction and PCR, and amplicon-sequencing library preparation);
• perform data analysis on metabarcoding sequencing data.

Qualifications

Basic R and basic statistical skills.
