JOB OVERVIEW
The Regional Head of Operations – APAC (Health ) determines the long-term strategic goals for Operations in the APAC region for Health. The incumbent shall ensure business growth through directing and managing flow of operational activities to ensure these are delivered in accordance with the organization’s strategy.
This role has responsibility to plan and direct the operational performance, in conjunction with the functional Heads of, for all departments administering Health in the region. Responsibility will include strategy delivery, transformation, data, governance and control with full alignment with each department global head across Claims Management, Policy Management/After Sales Services, Medical/Care Centre, Data Analytics & Reporting and Operations Support.
The incumbent will report to the AP Health COO and be a member of the Health Global Operations Leadership team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Strategy formulation & Implementation
- Contribute to the development and refinement of AP Health Operations’ vision and strategy
- Support and Implement the AP Health Operations Strategic objectives across the APAC locations
- Support the overall process of management and corporate decision-making to ensure the organization maximizes its short, medium and long-term profitability and returns to its shareholders
- The incumbent’s responsibility includes all countries in the region with the Heads of Operations of these countries/entities reporting directly to the Regional Head of Operations – APAC (Health )
- Liaise with other executive heads on the implementation of the company’s strategic and operational plans
- Develop, review, and report on the operations regional strategy, ensuring the strategic objectives are well understood and executed by the heads of department
- Project Management – plan, organize, and manage resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
- Deliver all aspects of Departmental Management including: Quality Hires and Training needs / Personal Development / Performance Monitoring / Team Building
2. Management of the overall Operations function:
- Ensure that the operations functions of the company are aligned with AGCS to run effectively and efficiently so that each operational division performs in terms with their strategic plan, developmental plan and operational plan objectives
- Maintain the administration, budgeting, monitoring, reporting, communication and liaison on all company affairs at a level acceptable to senior management
- Implement, maintain and manage an effective system of controls throughout the company, covering non-financial as well as financial controls;
- Ensure that operating objectives and standards of performance are owned by management as well as employees;
- Ensure that appropriate standards of conduct are established and complied with.
- Contribute to the yearly budget cycle in alignment with the Health COO approval and prudently manages resources within those budget guidelines according to company policy and within AGCS ethical corporate governance guidelines
- Management, monitoring, reporting and communication in regard to financial and physical resources, administration and budgeting of operations
- Analyse customer data and trends to develop scalable and flexible best practice solutions for client interaction and services across all locations
- Maintain and develop organizational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, customers, partners and official bodies.
3. People management
- Build and lead an effective and cohesive management team
- In consultation with HR implement effective succession planning, people management, development, recruitment, and retention strategies for the division
- Align the performance with all heads of department within the division
- Ensure proper execution of performance management system
- Promotion of employment equity and transformation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this position you will need to have the following skills/ experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline; masters preferred
• Minimum 10 years extensive and relevant experience in management within the health insurance industry
• Legally permitted to work in the country of operations.
• Ability to carry out strategic communication internally and externally.
• Fluency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and general internet navigation and research skills
