Job Responsibilities

• Utilizes independent judgment in performing both routine and complex laboratory tests using a variety of techniques, instrumentation, and equipment in order to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Performs complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests.
• Examines and analyzes body fluids and cells and matches blood for transfusions.
• Analyzes chemical content of fluids and tests for drug levels in the blood
• Prepares specimens, counts cells, and looks for abnormal cells in blood and body fluids.
• Analyzes test results and relays them to physicians.
• Exercises professional judgment in order to prioritize and evaluate varying test requests efficiently.
• Follow procedures for collecting and processing Biological specimens.
• Performs analytical testing procedures with accuracy and precision.
• Demonstrates scientific knowledge of testing principles, analytic procedures, and their results allowing for appropriate interpretation in conjunction with disease and physiology. Integrates multiple data to resolve problems.
• Implements and monitors quality control, new equipment, and/or methods.
• Performs tasks efficiently and maintains work area.

Duties

• To uphold nursing standards for patients admitted to homecare as well as care for families and loved ones.
• To coordinate teamwork in total patient care with all members of the homecare team in order to deliver quality care and service to patients and families.
• To work in collaboration with the Advanced Practice Nurse, NC/NM/NE and other nursing staff as appropriate to put in place clinical processes that are conducive to the maintenance and improvement of standards of nursing care in Home Care.

• To work with the rest of multi-discipline team to ensure that the holistic needs of the patients and their caregivers are met.
• To have knowledge of all equipment in use as well as be responsible for the use of equipment for patients in Home Care.
• To be part of the nursing teaching faculty as required and to be part of the process of quality improvement through review of care processes, active participation and/or leadership in projects as required.
• Must be committed to upgrade knowledge and skills in palliative care nursing by attending seminars, in-service and external education.

• Minimally Diploma in nursing
• Minimally 5 years of working experience as a nurse in inpatient ward setting is required
