Role:
The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring all purchased material is reviewed & inspected for conformance against defined criteria using the necessary measurement and inspection equipment. He/She also responsible for resolving the nonconforming materials with the vendors, and provide the support to production ensuring manufacturing processes are followed along with identifying and aiding in the troubleshooting of quality related issues
Education:
· ITE/Diploma in Engineering/Quality or equivalent
· Quality experience & technical background required
· 2-years minimum manufacturing experience preferred
Main Job Duties:
· Inspection of all incoming material to determine conformance with applicable drawings, specifications, and/or instructions
· Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on new part submissions
· Records inspection results into defined repository
· Responsible for resolving non-conforming materials issue
· Assist with Parts Quality Report (PQR), gauge instructions, capability data and gauge R&R studies
· Assists in the Quality team in investigating, containing, and controlling material that is nonconforming
· Creates and or updates test plans as required
· Identifies the need for increased or reduced sampling based on historical inspection data
· Proactively seeks out opportunities to improve the incoming inspection process
· Ensure the product is made to Legrand standards and take appropriate action, if needed
· Ensure that employees are using the correct tools, parts, and information they need to be fully productive
· Effectively communicate information regarding product, quality, and safety topics
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various departments including Team Supervisors, Assemblers, Manufacturing Engineers, Engineering and Quality
· Performs all duties in a timely manner, must be a team player, self-motivated, and attention to detail
· Adhere to all company policies, guidelines and practices including the SECRIT values
· Other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
· Proficient in reading engineering drawings and BOMs
· Hands on experience in inspection (calipers, micrometers, functional gaging, CMM) equipment preferred
· Exposure to Lean Manufacturing Concepts & Quality Systems (AS9100, ISO9001) preferred
· Ability to run reports, effectively present information and respond to questions
· Excellent verbal and written skills required
Ability to work independently
· Model high standards of conduct and leadership
· Ability to use Syteline, MQ1 and other systems
· Ability to learn Microsoft office
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
· The performance of this position requires exposure to the receiving/shipping and manufacturing areas where, in certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required
· Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
· Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs (18.2 kgs)
