Major Challenges:

As quantum computers are operated in extreme physical conditions and thus the cost per run is significantly high, it is desirable to verify the correctness of a quantum programs before the execution. However, the verification task of quantum programs is challenging due to the following reasons:

• Quantum programs (even written at high-level languages) are complicated to comprehend as it requires a good understanding of quantum mechanics and the relevant advanced mathematics.
• The quantum states are exponentially huge in size because the state of a classical bit is either 0 or 1 at any time, while the state of a quantum bit (qubit) can be in the superposition, where both states 0 and 1 can co-exist simultaneously. This induces the state explosion problem for brute-force-like methods.
• Quantum states are naturally probabilistic thus may yield different results on different runs, which is challenging for the testing and debugging methods.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to develop/produce/investigate obfuscation algorithms that will take advantage of quantum primitives. The techniques developed will aid in obfuscating quantum programs, quantum-classical hybrid programs and classical programs. Candidate should have good understanding of reverse engineering techniques, assembly language concepts and instructions and python programming. Candidate should have some understanding of quantum computing and cyber security. Prior experience in implementing quantum obfuscation techniques is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.

1. Design quantum obfuscation techniques for data and code obfuscation

The project is an oral language proficiency evaluation on primary students. Specifically, this role involves the design and development of gamification features, which leverage on data provided by AI tools, to help encourage primary students to practice and improve in their mother tongue learning.

We are looking for a research engineer with a passion for developing and maintaining highly interactive gamified cross-platform apps. The primary responsibility of this role will be to design and develop the gamification features of this application to encourage desirable user behaviors and encourage more regular language learning activities for users.

Knowledge of gamification would be advantageous but support in training in gamification will be provided.

The research assistant will play a crucial role in project management, data collection and analysis and present findings to various stakeholders. The core of this role will be to assist in several new research projects which explore various approaches for how Generative AI (GAI) and Large Language Models (LLMS) can be used to facilitate better teaching and learning practices. Beyond this, you will work closely with and be guided by STLA’s larger research team and have opportunities to support on wider research projects as part of our research team as well.
