Job Description

The Lead of the Assessment and Special Projects team will play a crucial role in overseeing the strategic and operational aspects of assessment management within the Undergraduate Studies Office at NUS Business School. This role is integral to ensuring the integrity, fairness, and continuous improvement of the school's assessment practices, while also spearheading high-impact special projects that align with the School’s academic and strategic goals. The incumbent is expected to work closely with academic staff, administrative members, and external stakeholders to drive excellence in assessment processes and to lead initiatives that enhance the overall educational experience.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessment Management

• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all assessment-related activities, including examinations, grading, and academic integrity processes
• Ensure adherence to the University’s policies and procedures regarding assessments, maintaining the highest standards of quality and fairness
• Manage and resolve complex assessment-related issues, including appeals and special considerations, in a fair and timely manner
• Collaborate with academic departments to ensure assessments align with curriculum goals and learning outcomes
• Oversee the development and implementation of innovative assessment strategies, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance assessment processes
• Monitor trends and developments in higher education assessment practices, ensuring the business school remains at the forefront of innovation

2. Special Projects

• Lead and manage special projects that advance the strategic objectives of the business school, such as curriculum innovation, digital transformation, and student success initiatives
• Develop project plans, set milestones, and manage resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery within scope, time, and budget
• Work with cross-functional teams, including department administration, faculty members and IT, to drive project initiatives and achieve desired outcomes
• Provide regular updates and reports on project progress to senior management, identifying risks and proposing solutions to mitigate them

3. Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead a small team of executive and administrative staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure the team’s success
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all assessment-related matters, liaising with the deanery, administrative teams, and external units as needed
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of best practices and new technologies in assessment and project management
• Where applicable, represent the business school in university-wide committees and working groups related to assessment and academic administration
• The incumbent may be assigned additional special tasks or projects by the leadership to support the continuous development and strategic growth of the business school, in the spirit of staff development and growth

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or a related field
• At least 8 years of experience in academic administration, with a focus on assessment management. Experience in project leadership will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of higher education assessment practices, policies, and regulations
• Proven track record of managing mid to large-scale projects, from planning to execution and evaluation
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
• Preference will be given to candidates who can display proficiency in using technology to enhance administrative/assessment processes and project management

· Understanding curriculum standards and Principles of Physics/Chemistry/Biology.

· Creating stimulating lesson plans to foster maximum student’s engagement in Physics/Chemistry/Biology

· Strategizing lessons to create student’s interest in Physics/Chemistry/Biology with analogies from daily life situations and examples.

· Adjusting teaching practices to support differentiated learning.

· Supervising lab sessions, guiding students on Individual assessments, delivering practical demonstrations.

· Developing experimental and investigative scientific skills including the use of current technologies

· Creating real world connections via transdisciplinary and cross- curricular approach to bring out the nature of science

· Appreciating scientific study and creativity within a global context through stimulating and challenging opportunities

· Guiding students to be critically aware, as global citizens, of the ethical implications of using science and technology

· Developing an understanding of the relationships between scientific disciplines and their influence on other areas of knowledge.

· Creating a critical awareness of the need for, and the value of, effective collaboration and communication during scientific activities

· Developing an ability to analyse, evaluate and synthesize scientific information

· Taking part in the process of mentoring and supervising of the Extended Essay component of the IB for Physics/Chemistry/Biology and world studies.

· Willing to teach Physics/Chemistry/Biology across the age and ability ranges from Cambridge Lower Secondary (Grades 6 - 8) through to IGCSE (Grades 9 & 10), to the IB Diploma Programme (Grades 11 & 12) and CBSE (6-12)

· Identifying and teaching study skills that will develop students' ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

· Planning activities and worksheets aligned to foster approaches to learning.

Job Requirements -

· Graduate & Bachelor in Education (Specialisation in Subject for Middle teacher & senior teacher)

· Preferred Masters in the desired Subject with International Teaching Qualification / Certificate that qualifies for accreditation according to IB educational system OR Cambridge Curriculum.

· Computer literacy, is required to work on software.

· Fluent English Level: reading, writing, speaking; a professional command of the English language.

· Strong technology application skills.

· Ability to support Blended cum Hybrid Learning.

· Competent in applying the principles of Digital Pedagogy.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of Chemistry testing and ensure that all incoming samples are tested and completed on time using the appropriate sampling procedures, test methods and other good laboratory practices along with the proper reporting and maintenance of records
• Maintain a proper understanding of Chemistry techniques and test methods
• Operate, maintain and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment
• To actively engage the supervisor/team leader of all “out-of-spec” results, analytical issues or any other problems encountered
• To uphold the scientific integrity and professional reputation of both themselves and that of the laboratory and exercise professional judgement and seek advice from the senior staff in difficult issues
• To ensure all quality control procedures are in place along with identifying and reporting any quality issues
• To ensure that all laboratory corrective actions are carried out and completed in time with root causes identified and to follow the appropriate preventative measures implemented by the supervisor or team leader
• To report all customer complaints/concerns to the team leader or the laboratory manager followed by the appropriate course of action as instructed
• Participate and contribute to health and safety continuous improvement initiatives. Report all incidents, including near misses, whether or not these incidents involve actual consequences, ensure safe work practices are followed, and proactively promote safe behaviour and injury prevention. Participate in training and working safely including the proper use of safety equipment. Ensure safety at work is top priority

Requirements:

• Possess minimum Diploma in Chemistry or related discipline
• Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in food testing laboratories
• Good chemistry knowledge, good instrument skills, e.g. HPLC, GC
• Possess work experience in similar or within an accreditation/ certification industry will be an advantage
