Purpose of the post

The Research Associate (RAssoc) will be working closely with the Principal Investigator and a team of researchers on bioprocessing and downstream process development. The RAssoc’s principal role will be to assist in method development and process optimization for research projects requiring bacterial and yeast fermentation as well as provide technical support and training to laboratory users.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate is expected to:

1. Design and execute fermentation experiments to optimize the production of target compounds/proteins.
2. Develop and scale-up bioprocesses for the cultivation of microbial strains (bacterial, conventional and non-conventional yeasts) from benchtop to pilot scale fermentation.
3. Conduct process optimization studies to improve fermentation performance, yield, and productivity.

The Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) operates a high-tech satellite ground station at the National University of Singapore. The Centre operates multiple dish antennas that track, receive and process data from remote sensing satellites orbiting the planet and conducts active research programmes on optical, infrared and microwave remote sensing.

The networks at CRISP carry large volumes of time sensitive data from orbiting satellites across our distributed antenna sites. It is a key component in our antenna farm. You will be asked to help design, provision, configure, maintain and administer complex multi-tier, multi-domain networks that are fast, secure and reliable. You will also be communicating with satellites through their mission control stations and participate in satellite data processing and archiving.
