About the role
We are recruiting for a Manager - Commercial Services (Bulk Pacific) for our Commercial Services & Digitalisation unit. Our Commercial Services & Digital team will streamline and guide how we invest in and harness technology for Commercial. This team will modernize and digitize our manual processes, addressing pain points for employees and focusing on initiatives for improving customer experiences. We see Commercial Services as the engine room with their focus on post-deal tasks such as invoicing, trade finance, shipping, and laytime.
Commercial Services & Digital is a unique opportunity to bring digital closer to the business, to create more synergies between teams, and to bring together business improvements to achieve business excellence. The Commercial Services Bulk team supports Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, and Salt business in the Pacific region.
The key purpose is to ensure the commercial services activities including invoicing, trade finance, and shipping for Bulk Pacific Businesses are handled most effectively and efficiently and in so doing protect the maximization of cash flow for the business.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Services Manager (Pacific), you will be:
- Providing leadership & oversight of the Commercial Services Bulk team to become a functional and high-performing team.
- Manages a team of Commercial services supervisors who are responsible for contract administration, invoicing, trade finance, and shipping documentation.
- Support the Senior Commercial Services Pacific manager with the execution of Commercial Services Bulk team objectives.
- Work with the CS Continuous Improvement & Digital teams to implement new digital automation and process improvement opportunities and efficiencies.
- Ensure all relevant Service Level Agreements and KPIs are met as per what was defined by Commercial Services leadership and the Business.
- Lead ad-hoc projects aimed at optimizing value for the company.
- Work with the various Business Unit teams to build a collaborative environment between teams.
- Managing the LOI process from receiving the Buyers’ executed LOIs through to releasing them to Marine, by ensuring all submitted supporting documents meet the risk mitigation conditions.
- Ensuring that appropriate credit risk mitigation tools are in place, appropriate shipping-related documents are produced, and that commercial invoices with approved pricing, costs (for shipping), and other documents are produced to banks/customers/ship owners in a timely, accurate manner to ensure maximization of cash flow.
- Adapts plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
- Proactively identify, drive, and promote business process, digital, and automation improvements to effectively and efficiently deliver improved customer service solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Addresses issues with impact beyond own team based on knowledge of related disciplines.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
- A bachelor’s degree in a business or operations-related function.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to reach out and build collaborative stakeholder relationships across different levels.
- Proven track record of effective commercial administration: at least 6 years of progressive experience in CTC / sales administration in the mining and metals area.
- Superior knowledge in Trade Finance, Shipping, or Supply Chain.
- Proven effective leadership experience in driving performance for a large team (>20).
- Experience with international trade documentation/Letters of Credit.
- High level of focus and attention to detail and ability to handle stress and workloads.
- Knowledge of contractual concepts and understanding of associated trade-offs.
- Strong knowledge of contact to cash.
- Experience with SAP / Advanced systems skills.
- Experience in leading and coaching large-sized teams.
- Experience in bulk commodity logistics.
- Experience in change management and business transformation.
- Commercial mindset.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Knowledge of Power BI or any other data analytics tools/applications.
