The Trust & Safety (T&S) team at TikTok helps ensure that our global online community is safe and empowered to create and enjoy content across all of our applications. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
The Trust & Safety Policy team develops and reviews our community policies to promote a positive and safe environment for all of our Users and Content Creators to enjoy and express themselves.
As the Head of Regional Product Policy for APAC, you will be leading a high-performing team in developing and delivering localized policy positions, driving policy improvements which ensure the safety of our users across the region. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of harm prevention, risk assessment, and policy frameworks, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role as part of project in response to escalation requests by chance.
Some content viewed may violate our community guidelines which include but are not limited to bullying; hate speech; child abuse; sexual assault; torture; bestiality; self-harm; suicide; murder.
Responsibilities
- You will lead a high-performing product policy team, manage cross-team relations and optimize policy iteration & implementation procedures to deliver high-quality results.
- As part of the global Product Policy leadership team, you'll provide guidance and regional insights to shape discussions on mission critical policy issues.
- You'll collaborate with Global Public Policy, Product, Operations, Legal, and Public Relations teams to improve content policies and streamline enforcement policies and processes.
- You will act as a global escalation point of contact, align all stakeholders, and respond to emergency content safety-related case.
- Conduct research and leverage data to identify emerging high-risk trends and areas of potential harm.
- Develop scalable enforcement guidelines for trust and safety operations teams to ensure consistent and effective policy application.
- Act as a subject matter expert, engaging with external stakeholders, including policymakers, NGOs, and industry partners, to stay informed on best practices and regulations.
- Represent the company in high-profile discussions on safety and harmful content, maintaining trust and transparency with global communities.
- Define metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of high harm policies.
- Regularly report progress and insights to leadership, identifying opportunities for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
- You have strong people management experience in leading small/medium multi-cultural teams.
- You have significant experience in content policy, policy enforcement, or public policy, specifically in technology/social media/content space.
- You have excellent communication, influencing, and project management skills, with the ability to drive the simultaneous delivery of complex projects in collaboration with stakeholder teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of cultural sensitivities and regional differences in harmful content definitions and enforcement.
- Your ability to work in a high tempo environment, adapt, respond to day-to-day challenges of the role.
- Your resilience and commitment to self-care to manage the emotional demands of the role.
