EOS invites applications for a Research Fellow to develop a greater understanding of coral reef systems in Southeast Asia, with a specific focus on calcifying and bioeroding cryptofauna.

Human activities have altered coral populations and their environments from those that originally formed reefs. A lack of quantitative data on coral reef functions from the region makes it challenging to predict how reef systems will respond to climate change.

The Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting fieldwork using SCUBA (PADI Rescue Diver qualification desirable) and laboratory analysis to assess coral reef diversity and habitat functioning in both turbid and clear-water reef settings. The successful candidate will be able to independently coordinate and undertake local and overseas field research to produce high-quality datasets. Field activities include benthic ecological surveying, biological and environmental sample collection, water quality measurements, deployment of experimental substrates, and experimental ecological work. The Research Fellow will also have previous experience conducting a variety of laboratory tasks relating to quantifying carbonate production of encrusting coral reef taxa, eDNA, stable isotope analysis (C/N), and micro computed tomography. The candidate must also be willing to learn and develop protocols for novel technologies to map and assess coral reef habitats, such as large-scale underwater photogrammetry. An excellent track record of first-author publications relative to career stage is advantageous.

The successful applicant will be able to engage with a network of international collaborators and will join a research group with members from diverse backgrounds and project interests. The Research Fellow will be able to work alongside group members on complementary topics and provide mentorship to postgraduate and undergraduate students within the group.

The position is under the supervision of Assistant Professor Kyle Morgan and will be for an initial two-year period with the potential for renewal depending on performance.

Requirements

• Candidates must possess at least a Professional Certificate / NiTEC, Diploma, Advanced / Higher / Graduate Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Engineering (Electrical / Electronic) or equivalent
• At least 3 years of working experience in the related field and experience in construction operation activity is required for this position
• Possess LEW certificate with EMA or hold a valid Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) certification of Grade 7
• 6 days’ work week

• Support the HRBP on effective delivery of HR operations and support activities to Business Units, including but not limited to recruitment, workforce planning, employee relations and engagement, compliance to regulatory requirements, training and administrative support.
• Responsible for the end-to-end recruitment process involving of posting of advertisement, shortlisting / interviewing of candidates, preparing of offer package).
• Recruit for qualified applicants; conduct screening process; ensure completion of pre-employment requirements.
• Liaise with intra-departmental for their recruitment needs.
• Handling of all employee onboarding and offboarding process.
• Works with HRBP to provide initiatives and improvements policies, processes, programs, training and projects.
• Ensure completion of requisite skills training for new hires, as well as other required skills training to include program delivery, monitoring and/or testing.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Make recommendations, provide solutions, and resolve issues as challenges arise.
• Weekly reports to HRBP on assigned tasks and provides timely and periodic reports / statistics within the scope of work.
• Participate and executive in the HR program to drive employee retention, engagement and development.
• Participate in developing departmental goals and objectives.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in HR/Business is preferred. Diploma holders with more years of HR experience can be considered.
• Minimum 5 years human resources work experience required.
• Manufacturing experience is a must.
• Possess strong knowledge of Employment Act and Singapore laws and regulations. Familiarity with HR functions such as Recruitment, Employee Relations, Disciplinary & Grievance procedures etc.
• Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative, exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Project Specialist (Oil & Gas)

Roles and Responsibilities:

• To support the Project Managers in the execution of customer projects.
• Administer the deployment and administration of a robust document management system to facilitate timely document review, approval, and documentation in an effective and efficient manner.
• Assist Project team related to documentation issues and advice appropriately on document control procedures and requirements for the project
• Monitor key milestones and coordinate key actions on behalf of the Project Management department in ensuring key activities are complete
• Interface with functional departments on the progress of the work, updating the project plan where appropriate to identify the relevant activities and critical items having significant impact on the project
