The opportunity

​Functioning as the primary subject matter expert to support Agency Management (representative agreements and incentive agreements) for both Manulife (Singapore) Pte Ltd (MLS) and its subsidiary, Manulife Financial Advisors Pte Ltd (MFA); to advise on investigation, debt recovery and litigation matters; to advise on vendor agreements and to function as the secondary support to fellow team members on legal matters relating to Products. In addition, this role will support the General Counsel in the general management of corporate secretarial matters for the MFA Board. This role requires active and effective management of senior stakeholder relationships, both internal and external.

Responsibilities:

• Providing end-to-end legal advisory and drafting support to Agency Management covering representative’s agreements, dispute resolution and other general corporate commercial matters (such as vendor engagement for events).
• Representing Legal & Compliance at steering committees on Products.
• Continuous support to ensure/improve better drafting practices in the product documentation space.
• Leading in the provision of Corporate Secretarial support to the General Counsel in the meetings of the MFA Board.

What we are looking for

• Minimum 5-7 years of PQE in in-house legal counsel roles with leading life insurance companies or leading financial institutions specialising in bancassurance legal work. Alternatively, substantial experience as a corporate commercial lawyer in top financial markets law firms with a focus on insurance related work.
• Law degree from a reputable law school.
• Prior experience in corporate secretarial work involving extensive senior stakeholder engagement.
