Job Description

The incumbent will play a key role in working closely with the School’s stakeholders involved in undergraduate medical education, particularly senior leadership and key administrative partners of healthcare institutions, to ensure that funding for training medical students are accurately disbursed, payment disputes are resolved satisfactorily, and compile data for reporting purposes. The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in human patients and other model organisms, and undertakes translational and clinical research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

Prof Derek Hausenloy’s laboratory aims to discover new treatments for protecting the heart from acute ischaemia/reperfusion injury and for preventing heart failure. We use a translational approach to research comprising cell models, rodent models (atherosclerosis, acute myocardial infarction and heart failure), nanoparticles for delivery of therapeutics to the ischaemic heart, and clinical studies.

The selected candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following: -

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
• Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
• Assist researchers in contributing to some aspects of the project management, occasional laboratory demonstrations and in providing guidance to undergraduate/medical students.
