The Facility Technician is responsible for the execution of routine, non-routine maintenance, installations and servicing work on freezer storage units and facilities equipment. The technician is also responsible for maintaining the general appearance, functionality and operations of our facility.
The technician will also assist in biobanking duties when required, including receiving biological samples and shipments, registering, and storing the samples. The incumbent is accountable for performing all assigned tasks with full attention and accuracy to maintain the integrity of the sample and the storage processes.
This role will require on-call duties as determined by departmental needs, handling biological samples and LN2 tanks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for maintaining the overall condition, appearance of facility and equipment (Laboratory and Office area)
2. Regular maintenance of refrigeration and freezing units (refrigerators, freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks)
3. Installation, calibration, validation, maintenance and monitoring of freezers (refrigerator, freezers, liquid nitrogen tanks and temperature monitoring system)
4. Manage and communicate maintenance work in the facility.
5. Perform tasks according to defined work instructions (Standard Operation Procedures)
6. Contribute to on-call duties for temperature monitoring for storage units.
7. Assist in biobanking tasks to receive, manifest, and register biological samples, manufactured, and drug products, ensuring that all handling and storage practices are adhered to.
8. Accountable for generating and completing reports and documentations in a GDocP manner.
9. Accountable for following all established safety and universal precautions guidelines and procedures.
10. Adheres to and complies with all company policies and procedures and performs assigned departmental and interdepartmental procedures as written.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Polytechnic diploma or degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or equivalent
- Facility management experience advantageous though not required.
- Familiar with biological laboratory environment advantageous though not required.
