Key Responsibilities

1. Complete definition and design of complex components, modules and sub systems. Contribute to the system engineering specification both within the field of one's expertise and broadening into other disciplines. Ensure designs meet market requirement specifications (MRS). Coordinate with project marketing and management to understand sub system requirements. Be able to chair architecture brainstorming meetings and drive the systems process to down select to a final architecture of a subsystem.
2. Conduct detailed engineering analysis of sub systems using vast knowledge of design concepts and functional requirements pertaining to field of technical expertise and broadening into other disciplines. Assist in creating concepts for architectural design approaches. Evaluate architectures to provide recommendation for best system solution approach.
3. Build and qualify prototypes of new designs, or procure entire subsystems from outsourced suppliers and test for compliance with detailed specifications
4. Problem identification and troubleshooting a variety of difficult engineering problems in field of technical expertise, including serviceability and manufacturability.
5. Support System Integration during the assembly and final testing of new product designs.
6. Perform and coordinate tests as per internal as well as industry-accepted reliability specifications. Make suitable design or operational changes as required.
7. Support system engineering projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithms and software design, and understand the underlying system implications.
8. Provide remote and onsite support to field support personnel as required.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineering and Operation teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of the critical environment (CE) designs and operational procedures for colocation data centers. Identify any gaps in these designs and processes and work closely with relevant stakeholders to address and eliminate these risks. This is to ensure the reliability and efficiency of critical data center operations.
• Lead the technical review and analysis of design documents for mechanical and Building Automation Systems (BAS) at Ops turnover, ensuring that colocation data centers comply with Microsoft’s requirements.
• Require a comprehensive understanding of data center HVAC cooling systems, cooling equipment selection, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, fuel systems and mechanical Building Automation System (BAS) controls and operational experience.
• Review the scope of upgrading the mechanical infrastructure in colocation data centers to improve site utilization.
• Provide guidance to Operations teams through change management on mechanical systems, troubleshoot mechanical and BAS issues, drive root cause analysis and work with colocation data centers on the resolution. Knowledge of 5 Whys or alternative problem solving techniques would be a requirement and the use of which to investigate underlying issues such as system design, staffing models, competency, procedures, site requirements, etc.
• Lead technical reviews with colocation data centers to complete system reliability studies.
• Active contribution and participation in the commissioning and validation of system performance, quality, and reliability.
• Perform forensic analysis on incidents which have occurred within the data center infrastructure. Knowledge of FMEA or other alternative process related failure analysis would be an advantage.
• Position as a subject matter expert with the ability to discuss in depth the mechanical and BAS aspects of data center functions, as well as the potential failure modes in critical environments.
• Analyze the performance data of equipment and system to identify potential issues through trend analysis.
• Provide support in resolving operational issues encountered in the production data centers, either remotely or on-site.
• Review compliance with existing corrective and preventative maintenance programs to enhance operational readiness.
• Proactive in driving implementation of lessons learnt from analysis across multiple design, construction, and operational organizations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical Professional Engineer with expertise in datacenter mechanical engineering. A team player able to work in a multi-disciplined operations and engineering team designing Microsoft Datacenters globally and possesses the skills to work in a fast-paced multi project environment. An ideal candidate is knowledgeable in the design and coordination of the mechanical systems, associated controls and overall topology, along with sequence of operation requirements and monitoring of all data center mechanical control systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Professional engineer in the branch of Mechanical Engineering with a certificate from their state’s or country’s licensure board

This position is with TikTok's Stability Assurance Team. The team is responsible for ensuring that the services provided by TikTok are highly reliable with low-latency. Reliability assurance is complex and systematic, for any massive application system. We focus on optimizing the application architecture from end to end, driven by data analysis and aim at automatic and intelligent failure recovery.

In this role you are:

- Responsible for the optimization of TikTok's core function architecture, designing a highly available, high performance, and highly maintainable system to ensure the stability of core functions;

- Design and achieve the guarantee system of end-to-end full-link stability for the core functions

This role will allow you to:

- Optimize the quality and process of the entire R&D process, conduct in-depth research on code quality improvement, automatic testing, and automatic deployment.

- Optimize the architecture of TikTok, improve the architecture for better reliability, better scalability and lower latency, design automatic disaster recovery solutions.

- Build a massive service governance system with the ability to visualize the entire system architecture, and locate and resolve faults automatically. Help develop an automated chaos system

- Build a stability measurement system, systematically measure the system's ability to prevent, detect, and resolve failures, and provide a one-click solution to solve stability problems

- Become an SRE expert, gain insight into the hidden dangers of the system, establish operation and maintenance standards, improve the automaticity of operation and maintenance with the R&D team, and improve the stability guarantee system

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical background involving software/system engineering, or equivalent working experience.

- Good programming experience with high concurrency/complex business system/service management

- Proficient in at least one of the following backend languages: C/C++/Java/Go/Python/Shell/PHP

- Positive and optimistic, strong sense of responsibility, self-driven, serious, good team communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualification

- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience from a large-scale internet business

Job Description

Report directly to the Assistant Manager or Manager, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving our DevSecOps practices. You will collaborate with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to streamline our deployment processes, enhance system reliability, and optimize performance.

• Collaborate with development teams to automate deployment and orchestration processes.
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of application through implementation of DevSecOps process.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient software delivery.
• Automate routine tasks through scripting and automation tools, including test automation.
• Collaborate with application, infra & security teams to ensure applications are secure.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide non-office hour support when necessary.
• Aid in planning and designing the roadmap to implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) for efficient system provisioning.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience as a DevOps/DevSecOps Engineer or similar role with good understanding in agile and DevOps/DevSecOps methodologies.
• Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer, are a plus.
• Proficiency with scripting and coding languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Ruby, or Go).
• Proficiency with Test automation scripting language using any test automation tools
• Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools.
• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud platforms.
• Optional knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) template.
