1. Roles and Responsibilities (What does the job do?)
2. Primarily to support Linux – Linux EOS upgrade i.e from RH6 or RH7 to RH8 , when there is no EOS upgrade the candidate to focus on the BAU work mentioned below.
3. Normally UAT /Development work will go in the day time and for the production mostly in the night time of the weekday and over the weekend.
BAU WORK:
1. Perform regular system reviews, work on pro-active performance tuning and resilience improvements.
2. Collaborate and work with the engineering team in developing technical solutions as well as plan and configure solutions in response to requirements from Business and Application teams.
3. Establish configuration standard and design guideline for Linux and system software, covering availability, performance, resilience, monitoring, backup and recovery functional areas.
4. Troubleshoot and drive system recovery. Escalate problems with actual or potential major impact to Problem Management Team. Perform root cause analysis and ensure planned actions are carried out to prevent recurrence. Must be proactive and possess a sense of urgency during service recovery.
5. Review and approve change requests. Supervise the execution of major changes.
6. Automate system operation for repetitive tasks.
7. Track and drive patch management. Track, plan and drive software upgrades to ensure continuous supportability.
8. Establish adequate monitoring to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery
9. Apply modern technology and process to improve system supportability, recoverability, availability and performance.
10. Provide operational excellence and skills for OS and system software to support various project phases (requirement gathering, design, procurement, implementation and hand-over to operations).
11. Support audit and compliance activities.
12. Respond to support emails, phone calls and alert notifications in a timely manner and complete all necessary follow-up and duty handover actions.
13. Weekly 5 days work , it can be any day in the week and if there is a need to extend the working hours the staff will be given the compensatory off.
