Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, NTU is looking for a Research Fellow with expertise in chemical reactors to develop an improved prototype for a thermocatalytic process.

The project is funded by National Environment Agency, Singapore to address one of the largest problems in waste management – the problem of plastic waste pollution. A significant fraction of plastic waste has substandard quality for mechanical and chemical recycling even after sorting and cleaning. The Research Fellow will work on the design, fabrication and testing of a chemical reactor system that will use pyrolysis-chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology for converting these plastic waste streams (specifically, contaminated and rejected plastics) into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and hydrogen. The role of Research Fellow is to design a system prototype that can effectively mitigate the impact of impurities from diverse plastic waste streams on production outputs and can be operated in a continuous mode.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be undertaking full research work and administrative duties during the term of employment within the following areas:

• Experimental work on plastic waste conversion into carbon nanotubes and hydrogen.

Antimicrobial drug resistance is a growing an alarming problem that poses serious challenges to the existing public health infrastructure of Singapore and of the rest of the world. Microbial pathogens are becoming more and more difficult to treat as they steadily gain partial and full resistance to last-line antibiotics.

Recalcitrant infections can add enormous costs and strains to health care systems that are already stressed. The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Join the laboratory of Zhongjian Wang at SPMS. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on machine learning, seismic imaging and monitoring of the Lumut Balai geothermal field in Indonesia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Seismic data collection, processing, and analysis, specifically for the Lumut Balai geothermal field, Indonesia
• Developing new seismic imaging techniques to reveal detailed subsurface structures at 0-10 km depths. The techniques will be then integrated with modern machine learning technology
• Applying novel earthquake location methods to monitor microseismicity in the Lumut Balai geothermal field
• Publish high-quality scientific results in Tier-1 journals

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, or related areas, with focus on seismic imaging
• Experience in inverse problems, seismic data analysis, and geological interpretation
• Proficient in coding languages, such as C, C++, Fortran, and Python.
• Strong publication record

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our team as a Research Associate.

The Research Associate will work on a funded interdisciplinary grant at the intersection of graph data management, cognitive psychology, and data visualization to support the University’s research in data science. The project seeks to develop a novel data-driven framework for user-friendly visualization of property graph schemas that is informed by theories from cognitive psychology. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing it.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and develop effective abstraction and algorithms for visualisation of property graph schema.
• Assist in development of user-friendly and interactive interface for visualisation of property graphs.
• Liaise with various stakeholders.
• Contribute to the production of research reports.
• Contribute to the dissemination of research findings.

Job Requirements:

• Attend to Customers upon sample delivery:Collect samples from Customers

  Check and verify received quantity
  Ensure proper contact information obtain during receiving and update contact information and quotations from the system

• Communicate with customer with the aim to gather proper information & clarify discrepancies
• Update Sample Traceability
• Arrange for delivery or collection.Provide schedule for collection/ delivery
  Contact customer for delivery arrangement (return samples)
  Liase with dispatch driver to arrange pick up / delivery

Requirements:

Job Description:

• To perform test using advanced instruments such as UVVIS, ICPOES, FIA, GCMS etc.
• To carry out testing of samples to deliver prompt testing result to customers.
• To ensure that all machines and instruments are properly cleaned and well maintained.
• To conduct calibration and preparation of reagents when needed.
• Prepare yearly assessment and deal with the assessment by external audit team such as SFA, SAC.
• Practice good housekeeping in lab and always maintain cleanliness of lab.
• New task will be assigned whenever it is necessary, such as provide training to intern during their internship in the lab, etc.
