The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI), National University of Singapore is a Research Centre of Excellence dedicated to interrogating biological systems from a physical and mechanical perspective. We are a multidisciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Yan Jie’s and Dr. Alexander Ludwig’s group to work on mechanotransduction mechanisms in polarized epithelial cells. This is a highly collaborative project involving three PIs at MBI as well as the group of Alexander Ludwig at the School of Biological Sciences (SBS), NTU Singapore. The aim of this project is to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms that sense and transmit mechanical forces from the apical surface of epithelial cells to the Hippo/YAP signalling pathway. A combination of in vitro force measurements, biochemical approaches, cell-based assays and live cell fluorescence imaging of mechanically perturbed cell monolayers will be used to tackle this question. The project and the position will begin in April 2024.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a world-class research institute with access to a highly interdisciplinary team of biologists, physicists and engineers in Singapore.

The Mechanobiology Institute (MBI) at the National University of Singapore is a multidisciplinary institute dedicated to developing new paradigms in biomedical research. We focus on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes in pathogenesis (ranging from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration, and function.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join Prof. Lim Chwee Teck's lab at MBI. The Lim lab conducts research on biomedical problems relating to human diseases, in particular, diseases associated with cancer, malaria, sepsis and aging, and develops innovative mechanobiologically inspired platforms in microfluidics and wearable microdevices to detect, diagnose and treat such diseases.

Qualifications

Candidates with a PhD in engineering, biology, biomedical sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply. A strong background in cell/ molecular biology is required, as well as prior experience with microfluidics. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to engage in collaborative research in a highly interdisciplinary environment.

• To develop new business portfolio, including production.

• To manage and service client and market relationships.
• To facilitate the prompt placement of (re)insurance contracts in accordance with the client’s requirements and needs, in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements acting in the best interest of the client at all times.
• To provide a pro-active advocacy service to clients covering all aspects of their (re)insurance arrangements; to advise, arrange and secure the appropriate cover at a competitive premium and actively chasing information.
• To manage, lead and guide the Team in the risk placing, client servicing, claims handling, and associated functions in order to facilitate the department operations.
• Understand the workings of the company and each of its functions, as well as the market that the business operates in and to foster internal collaboration across the various Price Forbes product lines and across offices.
• To continue to develop skills and knowledge to provide excellent client service.
• To ensure compliance with regulations and adherence to the highest standard of best practices and ethics.

Main Responsibilities:

• To develop new business portfolios, strategic production, and development plans for the Company, including the identification of new business opportunities and the planning and development of new initiatives.
• To lead and manage the (re)insurance intermediation as part of the team including production, risk placing, client servicing, premium receipts, claims handling, and associated functions.
• To ensure clear and accurate documents and wordings for clients which provide the best possible cover in the market and adhere to all regulatory requirements.
• To ensure the use of appropriate class of business knowledge to produce contract documents and documents suited to the client’s needs.
• To ensure and recommend amendments to policies/contract documents produced by the team prior to agreement by Underwriters.
• To ensure final contract documents against slip or proposal details to ensure the appropriateness of the proposed standard policy.
• Ability to create original and complex contract documents and maintain a database of contract documents and policy information.
• Provide guidance and advice on contract documents within specified classes of business.
• Resolve Underwriter’s queries in a timely manner.
• Manage and monitor team members’ daily work assignments as well as their development.
• Learn the use of GXB, help drive and encourage adoption of it throughout Price Forbes, and to ensure that Tracking is completed promptly to reflect the status of any risk.
• To ensure sound business practices and an adequate and pro-active risk control framework within the team and work within the authority.
• To exercise judgment when reviewing proposals, either new or renewals.
• Maintain up-to-date and orderly files, and ensure documents are saved and files are passed on to the others in accordance with Company Rules and Procedures.

Representing Price Forbes

• Champion the Price Forbes name and core values.
• Represent Price Forbes with clients, agents, suppliers and other organisations.

Compliance:

• Comply with relevant legal, regulatory and Price Forbes & Group’s compliance requirements, E&O compliance procedures and quality initiatives.
• Escalation of any potential E&O's to Division Head / Directors at the earliest opportunity.
• Ensure completion of all mandatory Company training and to deadline.

Knowledge Required:

• Detailed understanding and knowledge of general (re)insurance and relevant legal principles.
• Detailed understanding of the Company’s internal procedures and practices.
• Certification in General Insurance (CGI) or any equivalent professional qualification as required.

Essentials:
