We are looking for talented wet-lab Research Fellow to work with a multidisciplinary group of scientists on the discovery of new targets for therapy in Diabetic Nephropathy (DN), a devastating complication of diabetes causing significant morbidity, mortality and human suffering. The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disorders (CVMD) Programme at Duke-NUS houses state-of-the-art technologies for profiling mitochondrial function and metabolic adaptations in model organisms and undertakes translational research in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is a severe metabolic liver disease that can affect up to 6.5% of the adult population, with only one FDA-approved drug. Dr. Jin Zhou’s team is specialised in studying the novel molecular pathogenesis underlying MASH for the identification of new druggable targets. The lab uses a combination of biochemistry, genetics, animal modeling, and metabolomics approaches to understand cellular processes related to mitochondrial function and hepatic lipid metabolism.

The Duke-NUS Laboratory for Translational and Molecular Imaging (LTMI), Duke-NUS Medical School, is recruiting a Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to lead state-of-the-art small animal imaging studies in Viral Infectious Disease. LTMI aims to develop local infrastructure and deep capabilities in the development of molecular imaging technologies for guiding the advancement and translation of new imaging biomarkers to guide novel therapeutics in viral infectious disease.

The successful candidate will lead pre-clinical imaging efforts to validate novel imaging probes that target potential biomarkers of viral infection and host response. He/She will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution and communication of research. Candidates with strong records of scientific accomplishment in radiopharmaceutical sciences, immunology or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Lead mouse model development and characterisation of viral disease.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Manager is a specialist in a specific area of health services research (HSR) with good understanding of the broad HSR landscape and trend. The Manager will offer both technical & administrative leadership and work closely with other members of a multi-disciplinary team to conduct research, particularly in his/her field of specialty, into the medical, social, economic and ethical implications of health care services to inform policy and medical decision-making as well as provide pragmatic, impactful healthcare solutions for resource planning and operations management.

The Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a research fellow (RF) for the various projects on chronic disease. The Planetary Health Initiative is SDGHI’s newest strategic initiative. Planetary health pertains to the integrated state of health of both people and the planet. It recognizes that people’s health is now greatly shaped by human-driven global environmental change, such as climate change, environmental pollution, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, among others. Addressing these interlocking challenges requires concerted actions within and beyond the health sector, spanning diverse disciplines and nations.

During the Initiative’s inaugural phase, the Institute will focus on launching new educational and capacity-building activities, conducting landscape analysis of the current state of play especially at the regional level, exploring research collaborations with other planetary health-oriented groups within Singapore and beyond, and implementing policy influencing and advocacy activities – all geared towards positioning the Institute as an emerging thought leader in planetary health in Asia and beyond.

The Research Fellow will be part of the Initiative’s inaugural team and will significantly contribute to the early development of the Institute’s planetary health portfolio. The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities which include planning, organising, and conducting research studies, including but not limited to the following:

• Independently carry out the design and execution of research projects.
• Write and review research papers, present research outcomes, conceptualise new ideas and develop plans for independent research.
• Provide support for external grant/protocol development, study design, ethics review application, and other research management activities.
• Contribute to other activities of the Planetary Health Initiative related to education, capacity building, innovation, policy advocacy, etc.

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (“SDGHI”) is a platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (“AMC”).
