The Research Officer will oversee the progress of the research study under the supervision of the Principal investigator. They will perform a variety of research activities which include planning and execution of experiments for functional validation, leading up to a scientific publication.

Main Duties:

1. Tissue Logistics

• Tracking of biological samples received in the lab pertaining to the study
• Collection of patient samples (FFPE, Tissue, WBC,DNA or RNA) from Pathology
• DNA/RNA extraction from frozen tissue or FFPE
• Submission of DNA/RNA samples to external sequencing partner

2. Cell culture

• Generation of cell line and/or organoids from tissue collected from the study
• Maintenance of these cell lines and/or organoids in culture

3. Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project

• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental result and research findings

The Senior / Executive will be responsible for the daily operations of SingHealth’s research facilities and attend to daily queries from research staff. You will arrange the necessary logistics and processes for new investigators and departments moving into SingHealth Research Facilities and ensure the proper return of laboratory or office space when they vacate the premises.

You will assist in the preparation and renewal of licenses, sub-tenancy and service agreements. You will be responsible for the purchase of equipment and consumables, renewal of equipment service contracts and other services, as well as the processing of such invoices. You will also manage requests for card access to research facilities.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the laboratories under the jurisdiction of the Office of Research are fully compliant with safety regulations and SOPs. You will need to maintain all laboratory-related licenses and permits as well as update chemical inventories in the laboratories. The Centre for Population Health Research and Implementation (CPHRI) is a centralised platform for population health research, innovation, implementation and evaluation activities at the SingHealth Regional Health System. CPHRI aims to seamlessly leverage data and technology to guide and support population health initiatives and accelerate the implementation of research findings in care delivery and improvement.

You will be responsible for providing general administrative and operational support for CPHRI. You will maintain meeting schedules and coordinate meetings with internal and external stakeholders. You are required to provide logistical and admin support for events. You will assist with the tracking and collating surveys administered to research subjects as well as providing logistical support to research projects. You will also be involved in the procurement process and ensure that all procurements requisitions are processed smoothly and adheres to the corporate guidelines.

What you'll do:

1. Programme and Project Management

• Maintain overview of all key programmes activities and operations
• Support project team meetings (internal and external)
• Liaise with project leads/members and HR, Finance, Procurement, IT, Admin, etc as necessary

2. Grant Management

• Maintain relevant programme grant documents
• Provide support in collating and checking of grant documentation and processes (e.g., proposal, reporting, variation requests, fund requisitions, etc.)

3. JRC Meeting Coordination

What you'll need to have:

• Degree with at least 3 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in a healthcare setting and / or grant / program management
• Understanding of the local healthcare sector, as well as public grant funding and grant management preferred
• Experience working with industry partners and overseas collaborators preferred
• Expertise in use of MS Office (word, excel, powerpoint etc) and related software is a requirement

The Division of Supportive and Palliative Care is conducting research projects to improve health services for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses. The projects aim to develop, evaluate and implement novel models of healthcare service delivery for palliative care. You will perform a variety of activities under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and/or the PI’s designate:

1. Conduct literature reviews;

2. Screen and recruit patients/ research participants;

3. Conduct semi-structured interviews with patients/ research participants;

4. Attend to the administrative and logistic needs of research projects;

5. Assess patients for supportive and palliative care needs and manage any identified needs.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing or equivalent;

3. At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience;
