The successful candidate will work with Professor Eric Chan on Project Theme 5: Safety, Risk and Nutritional Assessment of alternative protein ingredients under a project on Development of non-animal New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) to innovate Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA) based on physiologically based toxicokinetic-toxicodynamic (PBTK-TD) modelling and simulation.

The Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Programme aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

The laboratory of Immunotherapy in HBV Infection within the EID Programme is focused on the study of immune response of Hepatitis B and the liver microenvironment. Job Description

The Memory Aging & Cognition Centre (MACC) is a Research Center within the National University Health System funded by the Singapore National Medical Research Council that focuses on the study of dementia and cognitive impairment in the elderly. The MACC currently has 4 research themes on biomarker discovery, neuroimaging, clinical assessment and epidemiology.

There is an opportunity for a qualified candidate with interests in Neuroimaging to join the MACC in a Research Fellow role to study the neural basis of cognition and associated vulnerability patterns in neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases. There is access to a 3T MR, MR-PET and retinal imaging.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform academic research on neuroimaging (CT, MRI, PET and retinal) and its association with cognition and other clinical outcomes in MACC observational and clinical trial cohorts.
2. Provide supervision and training to research associates / research assistants / students.
3. Validate neuroimaging biomarkers in Singaporean and global populations.
4. Supervise and perform neuroimaging rating and analyses for observational studies, clinical trials, and collaborative projects.
5. Provide expertise to work with collaborators on the design and analyses of imaging studies.
6. Supervise and perform neuroimaging data entry, data quality, data storage / backup and data sharing services for the MACC and its collaborators.
7. Provide training for MACC staff and users (seminars, workshops, and tutorials) in neuroimaging.

Qualifications

The candidate must possess either:

1. a Basic Medical Degree (MBBS, MD, MD/PhD) and recognized postgraduate qualifications in Neurology or Radiology; OR
2. a PhD degree, which must include appropriate postgraduate training and experience in Neuroimaging.

The candidate must have a good record of research accomplishments in Neuroimaging –preferably but not exclusively in dementia or cognitive impairment. The candidate should possess the ability to work independently in a highly collaborative and international research environment, and be able to demonstrate initiative, creativity, technical independence, and excellent communication skills. Proven skills in MRI data analyses are preferred but not necessary. The National University of Singapore (NUS) invites applications for the role of Research Assistant with the Heat Resilience & Performance Centre (HRPC), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The HRPC is a first-of-its-kind research centre, established at the NUS, to spearhead and conduct research and development to better enable the future challenges arising from rising ambient heat. Appointments will be made on a two-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension.

The Research Assistant who will play a key role in assisting in the development, execution and analysis of research aimed at addressing the challenges of training and operating in rising ambient temperatures. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary group comprising exercise and thermal physiologists, data scientists, biomedical engineers and researchers. This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to not only develop your expertise in research planning and execution, but also to be a part of the team looking to generate fundamental and forward-looking solutions to working in the heat.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main areas of responsibilities of the role will include but limited to the following:

• Working with research PIs and teams to develop new research ideas
• Performing literature searches, assimilating, and summarizing key information, as well as identifying knowledge gaps
• Designing and conducting relevant studies and surveys (qualitative and quantitative, including lab and outfield studies)
• Establishing and managing large databases

Qualifications

A minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, or equivalent. Purpose of the post

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The individual will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Develop new models and methodologies to account for the environmental impacts of health systems. The individual will develop skills in data collection, carbon footprinting, cost-benefit analysis, life cycle analysis, monitoring and reporting, scenario development, forecasting, and policy appraisal.
• Assist in evaluating the environmental impact of healthcare products and clinical pathways using a range of approaches including carbon footprints and broader life cycle assessment.
• Assist in the data retrieval and critical appraisal of secondary data sources that evaluate the environmental impact of healthcare products and clinical pathways
• Engage in a variety of research-related activities including literature searches and reviewing, preparation of research materials, data collection, entry, analysis, and interpretation using in accordance with the highest research standards.

Qualifications

The upcoming Project funded by a Singapore Agency for 4 years includes regional (South-East Asia, SEA) dynamical downscaling of storm surges using CMIP6 GCMs atmospheric projections for 21st century. • setting and running DELFT3D Flexible Mesh (DELFT3D-FM) model using past and projected atmospheric forces downscaled by an atmospheric team;
• use model experiments and data analysis to compute and understand mechanisms of regional (SEA) and Singapore Strait storm surge variability and trend driven by larger scale atmosphere/ocean processes.

Candidate will be having Ph.D. in ocean/coastal sciences/engineering from a reputable University.

Duties & Responsibilities

Research:
- Handling and processing clinical samples for genomics and proteomics analyses, including the establishment of long-term culture models for in-depth molecular characterization and functional studies.

Administrative duties:
- Assist with lab housekeeping and administrative duties as needed.
